It all started with cake (Tsukihina)

hello~ so right now it's half two in the morning and I wanted to write a fanfic, as you do. and so here we are. I couldn't really think of a title for this one-shot as I'm TERRIBLE at naming things so I came up with this one. enjoy ^^

Tsukishimas birthday was just around the corner and Hinata decided that he wasn't going to chicken out, not this time. he was finally going to ask Tsukihina to date him. but he didn't just want to ask him out; he wanted to get something for his crush.

"okay, great practice today! let's pack up and you can all go home." Dadchi (i mean Daichi) said to his team as he packed up the net with Asahi and suga.

"Yamaguchi, can I talk to you a sec?" Hinata called the freckled boy as he was sipping some of his water.

"sure sho, what's up?"

"what do you think Tsukishima would like for his birthday, I mean something... personal... something that would make him smile..."

"well I think that your words will be enough, he talks about you all the time, and not in a bad way... he likes you" Tadashi tested. "if you wanted something that will make him smile, strawberry shortcake."

'strawberry shortcake huh..?' Hinata said to himself.

Lost in his thoughts, Hinata wasn't looking where he was going; and being the clumsy person that he is, he tripped over nothing. again. but instead of hitting the hard floor, he fell on something warm and soft.

"Hey watch where you...." Tsukishima started. it wasn't until he realized who had fallen on top of him did a redness spread across his face."h-hey H-Hinata... are you okay" he tried to say, covering up the fact that he was obviously flustered.

"I'm sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going!" Hinata screamed as he scrambled to his feet, helping his crush to his feet. "you're birthday is tomorrow."

"what about it?"

"are you doing anything?"

"going to school..." Tsukishima asked bluntly, still trying to recover.

"oi, dumbass. you coming or not? you and shitty glasses are going to miss the meat buns if you don't hurry up".

today was the day, today Hinata would either be heartbroken or in a relationship. last night he spent most of it trying to make the perfect shortcake. he was a good cook, and he's made strawberry shortcake before but he had to get it perfect. it was for tsukishima Kei. he couldn't mess up. he decided to ask his mum for a ride to school as he didn't want to ruin all of his efforts.

when he made it to school he walked into the gym he saw it was filled with decorations. and in the centre was a tsukishima, obviously trying to hide his smile.

'so hot...' he thought to himself.

"who's hot?" Tanaka said to his kohai.

"he thinks that Tsukki is hot, he's gonna ask him out today," Yamaguchi said as he walked over to his childhood friend with a card.

"good luck Hinata!" Tanaka said, slapping his kohais back supportigly "I don't have a clue how you fell for that salty piece of shit but I support you."

this was it. his feet moved towards the blonde middle blocker.

"happy birthday," Hinata said, trying to calm his nerves. " I heard that you like strawberry shortcake so I made you some." Kei's eyes lit up as he opened the lid to the box... it looked like heaven. "at lunch... can you please come up to the roof."

"'kay..." tsukishima said, wiping the drool off of his chin.

~time skip~

Tsukishima made his way to the roof, fast. he was trying to dodge past the girls trying to give him gifts. all we wanted to do was spend time with Hinata. maybe, just maybe, Hinata liked him back.

"Hey," Tsukishima said to the ball of sunshine sitting on a bench opposite him.

"hey"

"so why such an isolated area?"

"Um... well I wanted to talk to you where there aren't as many people around" a blush soon invaded Hinata's face which then infected Tsukishima's.

"thanks for the cake... I love it"

"I love you"

soon the boys were facing each other, staring into each other's eyes.

"I love you too shoyo"

the leaned closer until their lips met.

this was the best present that Tsukishima could ever ask for.
