On weekends I try to stay as far away from my house as I can. When I wake up at Day's house at 8:30 in the morning, I leave a quick note:
Rise and shine Day! It's 8:40, I'm going over to my house to pick up some extra cloths and my school bag. I'll be right back. :) Ty
I creep down her stairs; I didn't want to wake her mother, or the three dogs sleeping with her, and slipped out the back.
The mile walk was good up till the late fall breeze was replaced with pouring rain. I stepped through the open front door and pulled it back leaving the door the smallest crack open. There's no need to search for my dad, he's right there on the couch.
"Where were you last night?" He asked calmly. Surprised at his tone of voice, I respond back with the same expression.
"I went to Day's house."
"You liar! You didn't go right to Day's house. You went with Beck at the bar. Why would you lie?!" His voice roared and echoed off the walls of our house.
"Last night I was at Day's house. For dinner I was at Cooper's. I didn't lie!" I retorted. Even though I knew arguing back was never a solution, I hated when he thought he was right.
"DON'T be a smart ass!" He says, coming towards me. I reach for the door handle, hoping to make a break for it, but he takes my arm. I thrash around trying to loosen his grip, but it only gets stronger. I open my mouth to say something but a beefy hand covers my mouth and eyes. I can't see anything, I can't scream for help. My fears get the best of me, and I faint.
When I wake, I'm up against my wall. There's duck tape covering my mouth and wrapped around my wrists and ankles. I glance over at the alarm clock on my side table; it's been a half an hour since I left Day's house. I am weak and no match to the strong, sticky tape ripping off my leg and arm hairs.
This is when I remember I forgot my phone, and that when I left, Day was still deep in her hibernation.
Day's POV:
I woke up around 8:50, a few minutes after Ty left. My head was groggy and thoughts were a blur. In the time I gave Ty to retrieve some extra cloths, I went down stairs and ate some cereal, and my phone buzzed.
Beck: Morning girls. Is there any way I chat with Ty for a moment? She's not responding on her phone.
Day: Oh hey Beck. Ty went over to her house to pick up some cloths for today.
Beck: Ummm...how long ago did she leave?
Day: Well, if it's 9:20 now...ummm...35 min ago.
Beck: Does she have her phone with her?
Day: No I think it's upstairs...do you think something's wrong?
Beck: Yeah.
Beck: Try to think of one reason why Ty would want to spend more than 5 minutes in that place.
Beck: I'm going over.
Day: I'm coming too.
I pulled on my jeans and ran out the door.
Ty's POV:
I fell asleep against the corner wall and when I woke, I looked at my alarm clock. 9:27. I started to think.
Will Day wake up? Will she come over and find me? Will anyone find me?
I heard the door slam open hitting the cheap shades on the window next to it.
