"I honestly can't believe he would be that stupid, I thought he loved me?! Like, does he even care?"

My friend, Amy is rambling on about how she caught her jerk of a boyfriend Zach, walking down the halls of our school with some bimbo stuck to his side.

I mean, I've never trusted Zach so I don't know why she should.

This is why I stray from latching onto boys. Boys my age are just immature and annoying.

"Lucy I wish I were like you! You're so independent."

This was flattering from her at best, but since the first day of middle school, I haven't seen Amy not be draped around an annoying, sex god type.

"Maybe just be single-" Amy had cut me off,

"Oh my god! There's Travis, catch ya later, at like the mall Lucy. Travis wait up!"

"What can I say, she's boy obsessed," I muttered under my breath, as I rolled my eyes and wandered away to my locker.

The mall always seemed full of buzz and chatter.

More like gossip.

Everyone at my school hung out at the large mall near downtown, after school. Our group mostly just sits and chats in the food court. I'm usually never involved in the chit-chat. I couldn't care less about who slept with who, or who wore what, but my friends do.

Just as I made my way to Starbucks to join the enormous, never ending line, something caught my eye.

More like a someone.

His sorrel hair, matched his soft cocoa eyes. The Mystery boy's smile was kind. Dimples were etched perfectly on his face to persuade his smile to be even more inviting. His nose was the final stroke to make his whole face come together, into something deviously sexy .

What am I doing? This was completely unlike me. But I'm not dating him. So I can just...admire from afar.

"Lucy! What are you doing? We're over here, we have your drink!" My friend Deb shouts

Oh, I was admiring the view. I take a seat at my friends table, sit down and take my drink. It seems as if the gossip took a pause as I made my way over.

Deb nudged Lacey "so who were you with last night?"

"A girl never kisses and tells" Lacey blushes

"I think you did a lot more than kiss!" Amy exclaims

I ignore the post-sex-drama and take a swig from my latte

I take a couple of guilty glances at Mr. Cutie in the corner. But I decide not to go talk I mean, I'd be breaking my own rule,

" Always be careful around boys. Go for real men."

I mean I can't. I haven't even met him. Ugh. What to do.

"Hey Lucy, why so distant?" Lacey questions,

"I don't know. Just tired maybe?"

"Did you see the new dress in the window of..."

She was interrupted by-

Him.

"Hi Ladies, I was wondering if maybe I could talk to" he said pointing at me.

"Um are you sure you don't want to talk to me?" Deb counters, biting her lip and obviously flirting with him.

The boy shakes his head playfully and gives me a hand, to help me out of my chair

"Thanks" I say taking his help

I walk with him to where his little table was, outside of the bubble tea shop.

"So," he says looking down at his arms, that were folded on the table.

" I saw you staring at me," he smirks

I blush uncontrollably, probably looking like a tomato.
"Aha yeah, sorry about that."

He slowly looks up, relieving his wide grin.

"No, don't worry, I think you're cute too" he softly giggles

"But I never said you were cute?" I smirk

He laughs "I could tell you were checking me out."

I blush more than I did before, "okay, maybe I was," I smile wide

"So you know I was-"

Another interruption? This interruption comes from across the food court. A burly, rather obnoxious boy screams from the side near McDonalds,

"YO MAN! STOP FLIRTING WITH THE TARGET AND COME GET A BITE O' THIS!"

"BRO COME ON!" another 'bro' yells,

Humph. Men.

The cutie stands up tall and stretches. "My duty awaits," he chuckles to himself.

"I'll see you around." He smiles,

He casually walks away.

My mind starts to race,

I didn't even get his name.

What in the flipping hell did that guy mean by 'target' ?

Why did he leave?

Do I have something in my teeth?"

Ugh.

I roll my eyes and silently swear to be independent from this day on. Well, you know, unless it's Liam Hemsworth or Ryan Gosling.
