School life is the best part of our life. We make many friends and many memories. But some friends and memories are like no other.
Anyways I am Alex. I am an Anglo-Indian. I wouldn't have realized what teenage life is like hadn't I come to India from UK in 6th grade. But the real fun started in 9th grade.I studied in a school in Bangalore. I made many friends out off which Sagneek, Harsh, Pranav and Vijay became my very close friends. My other good friends were Karthik, Guna, Daksh, Dinesh, Naveen, Lochan and Abhishek. We were united in every way. We had lot of fun together. Now that we are in tenth grade, me and my friends have decided to preserve our beautiful memories. But no memory is like that of Harry, our most illusive friend.
I and Harry met in 6th grade. But our friendship became more strong in 9th grade. Not that we shared the same mindset, but his works and motions were a topic of humour for everyone of us.
Lets start from the day we learnt volleyball in the month of December. The sport events were being conducted in our school. The girls' kho-kho tournament was taking place. Guna, Suraj and Naveen had managed to convince the 10th graders to give us their volleyball. We boys started playing volleyball for the first time. Slowly, we started grasping the game. Atleast we were able to send the ball to the next half of the court. But then, there was this Harry. Even if he was able to touch the ball, it was a great achievement. Not that I and many others were able to do so. But we didn't give excuses like Harry. Everytime, he missed the ball he said the sunlight was falling on his eyes. Sometimes even wind directions also didn't favour Harry. According to his theories, the wind blowing in opposite direction did not allow him to hit the ball.
Our school students are divided into four houses: Sky, Earth, Fire and Wind. The Sky house was losing in all tournaments badly. The situation became even worse with Harry as their captain. But what could teachers do! He was the only capable one then.
An incident which took place just two days before our introduction to volleyball. The inter- house volleyball tournament was held. Harry, our great captain, was as usual in the team even though he didn't know how to play. He gave away some crucial points and still stood shamelessly as if he did nothing. Finally a teacher scolded him and Dinesh was substituted in his place. Dinesh proved to be a better player. Without knowing how to play, he still managed to maintain his self respect. After the match, Harry did not stop himself from giving suggestions to Dinesh. Ironically, Harry giving suggestions to Dinesh in volleyball is like a local street-footballer teaching Ronaldo!!!
Wish he took a moment of thought before doing such actions.
