The bright sun woke me up to what I thought was a dream. I had a beautiful woman on my arm and she was letting me make mad, passionate love to her. Ashanti's light touch told me it was a reality, and her warm mouth made me bust down her throat. She kissed her way up my stomach, to my neck, to my lips, and smiled.

I didn't expect Chaz to send us on a trip but I'm glad he did. It gave me an opportunity to break whatever tension it was between Ashanti and I. I never meant to hurt her or put her in harms way. Anything she wanted, I would give to her with no problem.

"Good morning baby" she said wiping the corner of her mouth.

"Great morning. You sure know how to wake a man up."

"My man."

I looked at her lovingly, and kissed her forehead.

"We gotta get back." she said, looking worried.

"I know baby" I said with a sigh. "Im finna get in the shower.  Care to join me?"

I started toying with her nipple and she laughed, slapping my hand away.

"That does sound tempting, but we do have to finish the job."

"That's what I'm tryna do."

"Not that job!"

"Alright!"

"Plus, you use all the hot water, so I'm getting in first".

I kissed her soft lips then she jumped over my body and skipped into the bathroom. I don't want to miss another moment with her. I came to realize I've always loved her and I don't want to waste any more time. When I get done with this stupid ass case, I'm going to move her out to California with me and marry her. We won't have to worry about this Chaz problem anymore. Actually, why would I need to wait? I listened for the shower to be turned on and when I heard the faint sound of the water running, I took that as my cue. I threw on some clothes and dialed the number for a cab. I instructed him to take me to the nearest jewelry store. Hopefully I can get back to the room in time before Ashanti notices I'm gone.

I don't even know what kind of ring Ashanti would like. She used to the finer things so I better stick with something big. My boss transferred half the money I was getting paid for this case in my account, so I have more than enough to get her the ring I feel she deserves.

"How may I help you sir?" the key holder asked me.

"I'm looking for a really nice engagement ring".

"Getting ready for a special moment huh?"

"Oh yes, that's long overdue".

"Let me get our new coordinator to help you select a ring".

She smiled at me and I walked over to the case that was on display. Some of them were to plain, and the sooner this other person got to me the better.

"Sevion?"

I looked up at made eye contact with Bri.

"Hey Bri, what are you doing here?"

"I work for this same store back in L.A., they needed me to come in to look at some things. You ... buying something special?"

"Yes, I want to take a look at your engagement rings".

"For ... Ashanti?"

"Well, who else would it be for Brianna?"

Her eye filled with tears and she quickly excused herself. No idea why she was getting emotional but I didn't have time to figure it out. I'll just pick something out of the case and if Ashanti doesn't like it, I'll bring it back.

I handed the cashier my card and moved back and forth impatiently. Time was winding down and I needed to get back.

"How could you?"

I looked over my shoulder and saw Bri and rolled my eyes. Her makeup was running down her face and she looked extremely unprofessional.

"How could I do what Bri?"

"Marry her after all of this".

"After all of what?"

"You know".

"Do I? I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. What I do know, is I'm going to marry Ashanti. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to her".

"You'll never be happy with her. Not as long as Chaz is around".

"Well, Chaz is about to be in prison for more years than his dumb ass can count. So again, excuse me".

I moved her out of my way and ran out of the store. I hauled down the first cab and had him make a beeline back to the motel. I barged back in the room and saw everything was in shambles. Lamps and glass were broken and the sheets and covers from the bed were all on the floor. I felt for my gun.

"Looking for this?"

A masked man stepped around the corner dangling my gun in the air.

"Where is Ashanti?"

"Sha should be the last person you're worried about. You need to be worried about your life".

"Where the fuck is Ashanti?" I asked again, more aggressively. "And who the fuck are you?"

He took his mask off and I remembered his ugly face. It was the bartender from the club.

"Came to get some payback huh? 'Cause I stole the woman you wanted?"

"Actually, no. If it was me coming here on some revenge shit, you'd be dead. I'm snatching you up because the boss man said so".

"The fuck does Chaz want with me?"

"That's me to know, and you to find out ... maybe. If he doesn't kill you first".

I charged at him but stopped when something was hit hard across my head. The room started spinning, then I passed out.
                            ********************

"Here he is boss".

"Tie him up to the chair".

I opened my eyes but everything was still black. I'm assuming they put something over my head so I couldn't see. They pushed and shoved me until my knee hit a chair. They pushed me down on it then pulled my hands behind my back. I didn't have the energy or will power to fight them off. They must've beat my ass while I was unconscious.

"Where's the bitch at?"

"At the other place boss".

"Let's pay her a little visit. Leave this nigga in here to sweat for a few hours".

I heard them laughing as they made sure my hands were tightly restricted. I heard the sound of them going up some stairs then a door closing. I tried unloosening my hands, but the little piece of shit must've been in the Boy Scouts or something.

"Ashanti", I whispered. "I am so sorry".
