I looked in the mirror for what must have been the millionth time. I pulled up my black skinny jeans and adjusted my top. I turned around checking out my backside, which looked good in these jeans, which is a shock, because I didn't look good in anything. I turned back around pulling my dark grey shirt up in the front and tossing some hair over my face. I widened my eyes, checking the major amounts of black eyeliner and mascara.
I took a step back and looked at the final product. My light brown curly hair hung to right under my armpits and wasn't a frizzy mess. My black skinny jeans flattered my legs very well. I wore some black and white hightop converses under those jeans. Above the equator I had on a dark gray snug tee with a greyscale diamond on the front.
Finally satisfied I left the bathroom after flicking the light-switch down. I walked down the small hallway, not even bothering to look out of the corner of my eye at the room I'd memorized after years of living in the house. I turned to the right into another hallway that led to the front door.
I stepped out of the door and breathed in the smell of wet grass and pine trees. I stretch my legs and hop of the small porch. I walk through the grass to the road soaking my feet through my converses. I bounce on my feet waiting for the familiar screech of the bus rounding the corner. I look down the road to my left and see the big ugly yellow monstrosity coming towards my house. I mindlessly adjust the bottom of my top and step on the bus.
I'd like to think that today would be special, but I know it wouldn't be any different from every other day. As usual the bus quieted down as soon as I stepped on, before getting louder again in a new uproar. I put my head down and searched for my seat. Once I found my seat, I realized there was a kid sitting there, he couldn't be older than 9.
"Um, excuse me," I said glancing up to make sure this was the right seat, "you're, uh, in my seat." I hoped that he would get up wordlessly, but that didn't happen.
"Get lost old lady," the kid said loud enough for everyone to hear. Great, now I was getting bullied by little kids. The bus jolted into action, flinging me into a seat with another boy. He had brown hair, broad shoulders, and he was very handsome. He knew it too.
"Slut," he muttered to his friends, pushing me off of him.
"Sorry," I said, letting my hair fall in my face.
The rest of the bus ride was painless enough, besides the already endless taunting from the back of the bus. Once the bus pulled up to the school I fell in step behind everyone off the bus, but I didn't make it off the bus before someone shoved me and made me trip.
I fell in to routine, going to class after class, and avoided people at all times. I still had the luck to get confronted by Janice Monroe. She had long blonde hair, blue eyes, she was the captain of the cheerleading team. Boys wanted to date her, girls wanted to be her. She was basically a walking stereotype. Not to mention she was also the school slut.
"Hey Knox," she said, "I know you have a ton of gold, so could I borrow some?" I could tell she was joking, not only because she had tons of money, but because she was making fun of my name. Fara Knox. Everyone called me Fort Knox.
Janice's little sidekick giggled and twirled her curly red hair around her index finger. Her friend, Hailey Andrews was just as stereotypical as Janice. She had curly red hair, was co-captain of the cheerleading team, and did everything Janice did. She wasn't as pretty as Janice, no one was, but she made up for it by being a good co-Queen Bee. She wasn't smart though, and that's why Janice liked her, she could manipulate her, but Hailey still blindly followed.
I tried to walk around but Janice stuck her arm out, stopping me. I saw a smile form on her face as she got an idea. With the arm already extended in front of me, she knocked my books out of my arms. Hailey giggled again like an idiot. I moved to pickup my stuff but Janice kicked it out of my reach. Now that my books were scattered everywhere in the floor I had to crawl to reach everything.
"C'mon Knox," she pouted, "I just wanted a loan," she said finishing with a laugh. There hadn't been anyone in the hall a minute ago, but now it was filling up with people laughing at me. My face burned as I finished collecting my stuff and stood up. I tried to move my hair away from my eyes with a movement from my head, but that was a mistake.
"Oh, Knox," Janice said seeing my eyeliner and mascara, "do you really think makeup will make you look okay? I mean, no one wants an overdressed prostitute," she finished. Her snarky comment got attention from everyone as they laughed at me some more.
"Then why do they come to you," I asked. I usually wasn't one to fight back so I saw the surprise in her eyes when I said that. She quickly regained her composure only to yell at me and kick me in the shin.
I fell to the floor along with my stuff. I cradled my already bruised shin, and I felt tears stream from my eyes. There was no point in holding them back, so I let them go. I was already going to be humiliated.
The bell had rung around five minutes before, and considering the amount of kids in the hall, a lot of classes must have been missing a lot of kids. A few teachers rushed down the hall ushering kids to their classes, they paused when they saw me, but Janice had already run off to her class. A teacher I hadn't seen before helped me up and off to the nurse's office.
The nurse gave me some ice to put on my shin, because black high heel stilettos hurt. I didn't think I could handle the rest of the day so I called my mom to come get me. She told me it would be about twenty minutes until she would get there. I sighed, but told her to just hurry.

A/N: Okay, so I know it's short, but it's really just a little backstory to Fara. I know it's a lot to ask for a little story, but if anyone knows how to make a cover, that'd be amazing, because I obviously can't. I hope you guys like this so far! Leave feedback if you feel like it, I'd love for you to, but I'm not going to ride you about it ;). Bye guys!
