*Elias's POV*

I sat in class doodling in the textbook we were assigned. My headphones in my ears blaring Vice Grip by Parkway Drive. I didn't really care about school. I would do the bare minimum just to pass and move on to the next grade. I was just trying to get out of this hell and move on with my life.

I sat in American Government, my last class of the day and the only period of the day I had with Joel. Joel was the complete opposite of me, he did everything in his power to achieve greatness. He turned in every assignment on time or before the due-date. He even did the extra credit he didn't need. Is it cliché to think that opposites really do attract? He gets along with everybody, even outcasts like me. While I cant even stand talking to my teachers when I need help. He had lots of friends and was always around someone, while I sat alone almost every second of every day. Joel was handsome and smart, and me well I was nothing to gawk at. But for some odd reason I always find myself staring at him, falling for him more and more every time I see him.

But I was just leading myself on, he would never fall for someone like me.

I looked up from my textbook to look at Joel across the room, only to find him talking with the top girl in our class. He looked happy, they look made for each other. He had short brunette hair that faded as it came down to his neck, kind hazel eyes, and lips that turned into the most amazing smile. I must have been staring to long because when I regained focus we were already making eye contact.

I blushed and looked back down at the textbook on my desk. Fidgeting with my pen and biting on my lower lip hoping Joel didn't think I was weird, I noticed a pair of dark blue Jordan's stop at the edge of my desk. I clenched my eyes shut wishing I were invisible. I was tapped on the shoulder, sighing softly I took out my earbuds pausing my music.

"Its Elias, right?" A deep musky voice spoke.

Dammit! I thought to myself. I looked up to see Joel standing there in his grey jeans and solid black t-shirt. A student ID hung around his neck with his name and school photo on it. I nodded. His hands went from his pockets to the chair at the desk next to my own. He pulled it over to sit in it.

"I'm Joel," He said with a friendly smile.

"I know," I responded softly, placing my pen on my desk and moving my hands to my lap so he wouldnt see me fidgeting. I Sat back in my chair and avoided eye contact.

"I've noticed you around school, but you were always alone so I wasnt sure if you wanted anybody to approach you, I figured today was the day that I finally spoke with you," His tone only got friendlier the more he spoke to me.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" I asked curiously, peeking at him only turning my head slightly.

"Nothing in particular, just want to get to know you,"

I smiled slightly. He wants to get to know me?! Why? What did he hear about me? Im not that interesting, what would I say to him? Thoughts ran through my head a mile a minute.

"Oh," I finally said. "Why?" I asked right after. Why did I say that?

"Because you seem interesting."

"Im not really."

"Everyone has something interesting about them."

"I guess that could be true."

"Yes," He smiled at me making me blush and turn my head to look at my desk again. "Lets be friends," he continued.

"O-okay," Was this okay? What would he think if he found out my feelings for him?

"Cool!" He sounded excited. "I noticed that when you paused your music you were listening to Volbeat. Are you a big fan of theirs?"

"Oh, um yeah, they are really good, and they have a really unique Sound, and they Dont take their fans for granted. Its Just nice seeing a band that knows they couldnt survive without their fans, you Know?" I smiled thinking about the first time I saw them live. "They Sing about historical figures, like Doc Holiday, black Bart, Lola Montez and other Historical figures not wildly known. They also sing about How great their lives are, instead of drugs and being rich like other bands. Its very refreshing," l gasped slightly realizing is had been rambling. "Sorry, you probably dont care." I laughed nervously, keeping my head down.

"No l Dont mind at all, your face When you were talking about them was really cute," He smiled at me and l blushed. "I can tell you really like them, its nice seeing such simple things can make a person happy now-a-days."

"You really think so?" I asked.

"Yes ha-ha, the way You looked while talking about them was very passionate," He Complimented.

"Thank you," I said through a smile "You're very kind."

"What are you doing after school today?"

"Cram school," l pouted. "Exams are coming up soon and if dont pass Ill be screwed, l do not want to be stuck here for another year."

"Mm well if you wanted, l could help you study?" He paused, and a smile came across his lips. "It would be a good opportunity to get to know each other."

"Would you be okay with that?! I feel I would be a nuisance."

"You wouldnt be a nuisance Elias, l would be happy to help a friend in need."

"Thank You Joel! l would really appreciate everything you could offer me. Please take care of me!" I shyly smiled at him. We exchanged contact information and shortly after the bell rang for class to end. Going our separate ways, I squealed I was so excited. Staring at his contact in my phone I practically died with happiness.

I know it has been a while since I posted anything on here and, as always, I hope all my readers enjoy this story.

A special thank you to my boyfriend, he provided me with a lot of the information I used to help carry on this dialog. ~MajorEngel
