Prologue

Y/N. Tom's crush for 3 years. His dream girl. His everything. Also, his next door neighbour.
Y/N moved into the house next door to Tom's 3 years ago and Tom immediately fell for her the second he laid eyes on her. Talk about love at first sight.
Tom talked to Y/N often. They were pretty good friends, but Tom wanted so much more than that. He never worked up the courage to tell her his feelings. He wanted to. But he couldn't. Why? He didn't want to lose her. Also, if she didn't feel the same, Tom's world would be crushed.
She was the only one he wanted. He hadn't admitted this to anyone, but Tom loved her. Woah, that escalated very quickly, didn't it? But he did. He loved her so much. The thought of her with someone else killed him on the inside. The thought of her being hurt was even worse. He wanted for her to be happy. He wanted to make her happy. He didn't want any other guy to be the reason she was smiling. He wanted to be. Tom wasn't a selfish person, but when it came to Y/N, he wanted her all to himself.
There were so many times Tom had nearly confessed his feelings for her. He wanted so much for her to feel the same, but he knew that this wasn't like a movie. People in movies portray things like this to be so easy and cliche. But for Tom? Things never went how they did in the films. This was so much more real and terrifying.
Harrison, Tom's best friend, was the only one who knew Tom had feelings for Y/N. Tom trusted him, he knew Harrison wouldn't tell a soul. Although, he did encourage Tom to tell Y/N how he felt. 'The worst she can do is reject you', had turned into Harrison's favourite and most constant saying. But to Tom, that was the worst thing that could happen. He didn't want to lose her, he loved her. At least if he didn't know how she felt for him, if she even had feelings for him, he would still have the hope of 'she might'. Tom knew a girl like Y/N wouldn't stay single for long. There were loads of guys chasing after her. He just hoped that she didn't go with one of them, because if she did, Tom's heart would be broken.
