~~~~Oreo's P.O.V.~~~~
I was walking around the school library on a Monday night. There were only 4 months of school left and for that I was happy.
I found what I as looking for in the non-fiction section. Rachel, my girlfriend, was standing there in a white mini skirt and tight red crop top. She wasn't a big slut but she had defiantly slept around a few times.
"Hello there." I said smugly. She turned to look at me and smiled. She had a gorgeous smile. It was big and white but I knew it was fake. She had several fake teeth and had her teeth whitened every month or so.
"I didn't think you would actually show up. Word is that you were spotted with Lindy at the mall." She said. She wasn't angry with me but she wasn't pleased either.
"I was helping her choose a dress for a family diner she has to go to. She's my cousin. Why would I do anything with her. That would just be nasty." I shot back.
"Suit yourself Oreo." My name is Orion Derek but everyone calls me Oreo. She walked towards me slowly.
Then she pressed her big pink lips onto mine and we made out for what seemed like hours.
I felt a hand tap on my shoulder but ignored it. I get it again an was angered.
I turned and expected to see an old lady but instead I saw a girl around my age.
"What?!?" I said still angry.
She looked up at me with big, greyish blue, puppy eyes but she showed no emotion. She pointed to her watch.
Right. The library closes now.
"Alright, alright we're going." I said, calming down slightly by her silence.
Why didn't she just say it was time for me to leave? Why'd he just point to her watch?
Whatever.
She walked over to the front desk and I looked at her again.
She was actually a pretty girl. Defiantly the nerdy book type. She had an oversized, minty blue, knitted sweater with rhinestones on it and dark washed, ripped, skinny jeans. Her shoes were awesome. They were mint green vans with grey laces. She had her hair up in a messy bun and almost no makeup on.
I realized then the only makeup she was wearing was most likely concealer. I guessed that because I saw raised skin on her face in streaks. Probably scars but they weren't a lighter or darker coloured compared to the rest of her skin.
I had never seen her before. I wonder if she's new here? that would explain why I had never seen her.
"Have you ever seen her before?" I asked Rachel.
"She's the manikin who never talks to anyone and has no friends. She's just an ugly whore who probably lost a boyfriend and made a big deal out of it." She spat.
God Rachel is so mean.
"How do you know?" I said back just as venomously.
"She bumped into me at school once and when I said watch where your going, she just looked down and started to walk away. I got mad and punched her to the wall for not apologizing or anything. She just stood up and walked away. No emotion whatsoever. That's why she's the manikin."
"That's kind of mean." I said quietly.
Rachel scoffed.
I walked over to the quiet girl and asked her what her name was.
She looked at me with her emotionless face, leaned over at the desk, and quickly scurried away to the back.
"Hello?" I asked to nobody in particular.
No answer.
"Hello?!?!?" I asked, getting slightly annoyed.
Still no answer.
"Fine. I'll be going then." I said, hoping to coax her out.
That didn't work.
I looked down and noticed a piece of paper by my feet.
'Silens'. (SI LEENS)
It said Silens. That must be her name. I thought she was running from me so she wouldn't need to answer.
"Silens." I said.
"It means silence in Latin. I'm Mrs. Larue. I'm the librarian here. I was about to leave and let her lock up later. I don't think anyone was here." An older woman at the door said. She stuck out her hand and I shook it.
"Why won't she talk?"
"I don't know. I've never heard her say a word or even mouth anything. You're lucky she wrote down anything. She seems secluded form everyone and everything. She avoids everyone." She said, looking me in the eyes.
"What school does she go to? Do you know?" I asked.
"She goes to Wriley High School."
So she goes to my school. I thanked Mrs. Larue and left to see Rachel in my car.
She was going to be coming home with me but after seeing Silens, I was just going to drop her off at her house and think at home.
When I got to her house I walked her to her door and we talked for a few minutes.
"Do me a favor and stay away from that manikin." She said sweetly.
"Why? She never did anything to me and she really didn't do anything to you. She has no friends and is completely alone. What did she do to deserve this?" I questioned.
"She's just a wannabe popular kid and is going to get you to fall in love with her mysterious ways. She'll than tell you she's a drug addict or alcoholic but you won't leave her because you 'love her'." she said adding air quotes.
"Whatever." I said and walked back to my car.
Why is she so mean to the girl?
I went home and thought about the girl. I never back down from a challenge, and this girl is a challenge. She wouldn't be know as the girl who never spoke. She would be known as the girl who only talked to Orion Derek.
