#6 Not-So-Happy First Meet

Zane's POV
Soon after that, Nana's parents and 11 siblings pour into the room like lava from an erupting volcano. "Are we too late?!" Her dad asks frantically. I shakily inhale and give them a sorrowful look as I look over at my lifeless fiance. At least she was smiling...her naturally pale skin had turned completely white and she was cold to the touch. I look back at her family, caressing Nana's colorless hand with my thumb. "So... this.. isn't the circumstances I would've wanted to meet on.." I chuckle nervously, trying to lighten the mood. That's what she would've wanted. She wouldn't want to see me crying. Her family looks at me and I shake hands with everyone and we introduce oursevles. I lay my head gently on her cold arm. I swear I could still hear her voice assuring me that everything would be okay. That's it. Tears flowed down my face. Tears that I haven't let anyone see my whole life.
