The Announcement

The national news was going crazy. The president was on the screen everywhere, the restaurants, schools, malls, live streams, radio stations, bars, homes; everywhere.

"ATTENTION CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, THIS IS A NATIONAL BROADCAST. THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WILL BE HERE SHORTLY."

The screen goes black and the national logo spreads across the screen. Silence, only the static of the televisions is to be heard.

Shock, fear, tension. All of these were spreading across the atmosphere like a tidal wave. Cars cluttered on the streets, stopped, as if waiting for a signal to carry on, but the signal never comes.

A few seconds pass, feeling like ages.

"This is President Dover speaking." This sentence breaks the silence. "Citizens of America- I have grave news..."

Fear shook the eyes of everyone, their bodies looking frail, crumbling at the word "grave."

Little did we know how grave this situation was, but soon everyone would come to know, and everyone would come to fear this news the President was about to pour on us, like a typhoon of destruction.

No one could run from this.

No one.
