“The car, Emi!” Evan shouted from behind me.
A car. Hmmm…. Where would I find a car up to my standards.
“Emi, hurry they’re almost on us!”
I examined the old rust buckets along the dark alley until I spotted a red sports car. Wonder how that beauty got here. Never mind that. Shoving Evan and the city key, stolen of course, in the direction of it, I ordered him, “Get the car started. But I still want to drive.”
Evan rolled his eyes and sprinted off to our new getaway vehicle. “In your dreams, kid.”
“I’m only like five minutes younger than you! Evan! I’m going to kill-“ I was cut off by a bullet flying past me.
Turning around, I saw a man in a black hood that covered his eyes holding a pistol.
“Come on! You have one free shot with me completely distracted and you miss. Seriously, James! You’re out of practice, princess. I’m suspired you figured out to shoot the thing. This game is for big boys. Try Tocca Boca next. On second thought don’t. If you fail at that I might have to kick you out of out World of Warcraft party.” By the end of my rant I had unarmed him, leaving him with his not-so-hidden grenade. I’ll use that later.
I heard a rustle from behind. Ahhh… I love these hypersensitive headphones. Pretending I didn’t notice the noise I continued walking around James so the sniper behind me, probably Jake, because he hasn’t tried to shoot me in motion yet, couldn’t get a clear shot on me. I could take both of them out in seconds if James didn’t know there was another sniper or two hiding on one of the roofs above us.
“Really, James, beaten by a girl again. You really need to snap up your game.”
He smirked, felling smart. Knowing what he was about to do, I maneuvered myself in front of Jake, the sniper behind me. James suddenly hurled the grenade at me. Not giving me enough time to get away on foot.
“No! I’m so not going to get out of this one.” I winked at James.
“What do yo-”?
A car cut him off, a red sports car, screeching up. I swung up in through the window.
“Grenade! Ten seconds, idiot!” I screamed at my brother.
“I’d advise you duck, sister dearest.”
Ten a spray of bullets hit our back windshield.
Nine, eight “I want to drive!”
Seven, six I jumped over onto Evan’s lap
Five “Emi! I’m driving!” Evan tried to push me off.
Four “No!”
Three We almost swerved into a dumpster.
Two I grabbed the wheel. Evan floored the gas.
One Almost out…
Zero A loud boom filled my ears as we skidded onto the dark street.
Wait…the snipers!
