Io sat under a tree in the park, looking on the outside just as he felt on the inside. Ragged.
It had been three days now. Each day he got to his feet and searched. Searched nonstop. He needed to find someone, or something, to tell him who and what he was.
But there was nothing seemingly in this realm that could answer his question.
There was one more place he could check. He didn't want to, but he knew as soon as he didn't, the answers would be there.
The Nightclub.
Nightclubs were strange, to Io. He didn't understand them, nor enjoy them... and he didn't feel like participating in one.
But he guessed he had to. At least then he would know if Haven Town was useless or not.
When night fell, Io stretched out his sore spine and stood. He shook the dew off of himself and wrapped his jacket tightly around his shoulders, to in an attempt to hide in it. Then he started off toward the club.
'Elbows', the name of the club, seemingly referred to how dense the population was. You couldn't get in without being elbow to elbow with someone. It was packed.
Io stepped toward the door, where a line of people was waiting, slowly being let in by the bouncer.
He noticed that each person pulled out a little card, that had their face on it, and a bunch of random numbers. Io wondered what those were. He wondered if he would need one.
A woman in a skin-tight mini dress glanced back at him over her shoulder. Her hair was in a French braid and her eyeliner was sharp enough to cut someone. She smirked at Io, bit her lip, and winked.
He winced. That made him heavily uncomfortable. He only liked it when Amory gave him those looks.
The woman too pulled out her card, showed it off, and then giggled to her friends and scurried in, leaving Io up front.
The bouncer, a muscle-bound man with his arms crossed over his barrel-chest, narrowed his eyes at Io from under a ball-cap that shaded his face.
"No entry without ID."
Io swallowed, shifting from foot to foot, unable to look the man in the eye.
"ID?" He asked shakily. "What's that?"
"Driver's license, military card? Anything?"
Io shook his head. "I don't have those. I'm just looking for a-"
"Get lost, kid. Too young." The bouncer jerked his thumb over his shoulder. "There are plenty of blow-up houses to jump around-"
"Let him in, Chase." A smooth, silky voice spoke from just inside the door. "I asked him to come tonight. He's a friend of mine."
Chase frowned.
"He's clearly underage. I could be fi-"
"I could fire you if you don't. Would you rather deal with me, or the police?" The voice shot back, though still evenly. With enough poise to make Io shiver.
Chase seemed to be very uncomfortable with his options. But soon he sighed, and opened the door for Io.
"In."
Io glanced up at Chase, then stepped in, slowly looking to his left.
"Why did you say you know me?" He asked the first face he saw.
"What now?" The woman asked.
That wasn't the voice who had spoken a moment ago.
Io shook his head, ignored her, and pushed on. He didn't know what was going on! A second ago, a strange man was vouching for him, now he was gone, in the blink of an eye?

Spiritual"Is the journey a difficult one?" Amory whispered, his voice a dull ghost in Io's soft, snowy hair. The breath that brushed over his skin made goosebumps rise on his neck. "That is yet to be seen." Io replied, reluctant with his words. His head lay...
