" No! ", she yelled into the darkness. She looked around as she came to awareness of reality. Books, more books, even more books... Yeah, everything seemed normal. She jumped out of bed, getting entangled in her blankets. As she pulled her blankets off of her she realized she'd broken into a cold sweat. She stumbled on the way to turn on her light, then she pulled another chain to turn off her fan. Why did she feel so baffled?

She ran to the bathroom and turned on the water faucet. Pink. Why did the walls have to be so pink? The walls made her feel like she was a barbie doll, caged up in the pink barriers of her Dreamhouse. She splashed some water on her face and stared at her reflection in the mirror. She then remembered her dream. She remembered rain, fog, two pairs of dark eyes peering down at her. Or maybe there was three sets of eyes. Who cares, it was just a dream. Still, it made her wonder whether the dream meant something.

She tore her eyes from her reflection, running out the bathroom door and racing down the halls to her room. She ripped her book out from under her pillow. It was titled " Myths " with a red cover. She skimmed through the pages, finding the one she was looking for. She read aloud to herself, " The Hydra usually refers to the Lernaean Hydra. The Lernaean Hydra is a many-headed serpent in Greek mythology. According to Theogony 313, the Hydra is the child of Typhon and Echidna. It also has one immortal head in the middle of its body. Heracles kills the Hydra as one of his labors. It lived in the lake of Lerna in the Argolid. The lake is older than the Mycenaean city of Argos." She stopped there, she was feeling a little dizzy. She then collapsed, falling on her bed unconscious.

She woke up floating in a large pool of thick, black water. " Where am I? ", She called out, her words muddled and disarranged. It sounded like she said something more like, " an uh whe? ". She just then realized there was a huge nine-headed monster that looks a lot like a hydra looming above her. Just then! " Siriously Amani! ", she said to herself, " You could have noticed there was a huge nine-headed monster that looks a lot like a hydra looming above you one minute ago!

" She turned over on her stomach and started swimming as quickly as she could. She saw the shore but it seemed like she wasn't moving at all, like she wasn't getting any closer.  Now the monster was reaching for her with its huge paw, grazing her just before she dove under the water, dodging its sharp claws. She dove deeper, but the monster chased her. It was pitch black, and the water was thick, not helping with her already flimsy plan to escape. She then noticed a tiny glimpse of something sharp. " Oh no. ", she thought to herself. The monster's huge teeth wrapped around her and she felt something, something she never felt before. Terror.

She shot awake, flailing her arms like she was trying to swim. Wait, she was trying to swim. She had another nightmare, she realized. She sat on her bed, trying to figure out why she was having these episodes. " I wonder... ", she murmured to herself. She shrugged it off. It's probably nothing. She must be tired.

She heard a soft tap on her door.

" Amani! ", her father called, " Breakfast! "

" Okay dad! ", she called as she stood and stretched her arms over her head.

She went over to her walk-in closet and picked out a loose white shirt that dangled at her thighs and a pair of denim jeans. She decided she didn't need to brush her hair and walked to the dining room. As she slid down the spiral staircase she smelled an oh-so heavenly scent. Her mother's waffles! She ran through the door to the dining room and sat in her usual seat, the one at the far end of the table next to her mother's seat. The crystal chandeliers jingled as her father walked into the room, accidentally banging the door on the burgundy walls of the room. " Amani! ", he scolded, " Don't put your elbows on the table! "

As she was just about to give a sarcastic remark to her father her mother walked through the door to the kitchen, holding a platter of homemade waffles.

 " Brekkies! ", she hollered.

Amani then heard the pounding of footsteps on the wooden floor. At first she thought it was her mother walking over to the table. But her mother looked frozen in time, unmoving. She stood up, determined to figure out the cause of these sounds. Then the pounding suddenly stopped. Tick tick tick tick. Where was she? She looked around the room. All she could make out was a table in the middle of darkness. She started to walk over to the table, but her surroundings changed again. She was now in an amusement park, perched on the top of a... Ferris wheel? As she looked down on park she noticed a boy in black and white clothing scramble into the tent labeled, " Glass Garden ". Now the Ferris wheel was close to the floor she jumped out and followed the boy. As she enters the tent, she sees shining white flowers and beautiful silver trees. She walks around, admiring the gleaming plants. She had almost forgotten about the boy until she heard him clear his throat behind her. She spun around, seeing a handsome boy with charcoal black hair and eyes that look like they hold the full spectrum of color. He stands just inches from her face, so that she can feel his warm breaths on her forehead. Fighting the urge to run away, she stood there and looked him straight in the eye. They stand there until she finally speaks, breaking the silence.

" What are you doing here? ", she blabbers in his face.

After many antagonizing seconds, he says, " I need to find this girl. "

She gasps as he holds up a paper showing her face. Same green eyes, same auburn hair.

" Well," she says, " It seems like you've found her. "
