I didn't know what to do when I heard footprints above the bunker, as my dog went into a barking and growling fit. When the bunker door was banged on, all I could do was hide, the door was then open and sunlight shown down the stairs. I then could hear the creaking of the rotting stairs as footsteps climbed down them. The sound of the stairs was a very familiar sound, as I paced up and down them enough times.

I then could hear someone whispering and another human responding. That when it hit me, they are the same as me, same language, same species, they are humans. It was scary seeing another one of me for the first time after my parents left me. I only left the bunker a few times after that, it was shocking the first time leaving the bunker. Destruction was everywhere, my house was gone, no it was way more then just my house, my city was gone.

The other people were taller then me, they wore a huge body suit. Their breathing was like the sound of air leaking out of a pipe that I ran across when I left the bunker. I was hidden behind my bed holding onto my dogs mangled collar. He growled and I tried to hold his muzzle shut but it was no use. The men in suits just followed the sound of Maverick, and it made me shiver in fright. Thoughts of my death ran though my head, I shook my head trying to remove the dangerous thoughts out of my mind, and peered at them again.

They were much closer then last time a looked. I could see them clearly, they both held a small device in their hand. On their backs were huge tanks, that clicked when the stepped. One was waving towards my direction like they saw something. I then realized I raised my head higher then I thought and it they could see my hair. I ducked down and was ready for a fight, as they approached. I then saw a pair of feet in front of me and I jumped back in fear.

Maverick then took the advantage and slipped the so called collar and lunged at one of the humans. He growled and his teeth was flashing, but the humans just threw something his direction and watched as he sniffed it. I then backed up and slipped under the bed. And watched as Maverick happily ate what was offered, which looked like a small raw chicken.

The humans came closer towards me and then one got down on his knees and took off the top of his suit. His hair in the dim light was a sandy color, his eyes were an intense brown color, but his smile was welcoming. He then crossed his legs and sat on the floor and then spoke to me. "Young lad, we are here to help you, it has been sometime after the crisis years ago." I wanted to stop him right there, years, I have been here alone for a years, fending for myself with my loyal dog. Looking over at Maverick I noticed that he looked tired, his ears dropped down lower, his eyes we dull, and he didn't even growl or bark at the men in our bunker. I then snapped back to the man who spoke softly. "Could you please come out from under there, we want to take you back to the new place we're everyone lives. Maybe find your family, what do you say?" He spoke, his back was leaning against my bed now.

The other mans feet were gone from the spot and his knees replaced them as he bent down to pet my dog. I didn't know what to do in the moment. Many emotions were though my body. Fear for the men, happiness of the thought of finding my dad and mom, and curiosity for what this man promised. I finally decided to reveal myself to these people. I slowly pushed my way out from under pthe bed. My knees we scraped from the concrete flooring when I slid under the bed. My hands had open sores, from many things. My clothes were muddy and ripped, my hair looked awful, so I don't think I smelled the best too.

The two men moved back away from the dark gray bed, when they saw the tips of my fingers. I slowly stood up and looked at the floor, I couldn't bring myself to look at the humans that were with me.

The man that talked to me was still sitting, but he was farther away. He looked at me with and expression I couldn't read. The other man in the room still had his hat thing on, so I could just see his eyes which were a hazel color.

The hazel eyed humab slowly approach me, the closer he got the more scared I became. He was soon just a feet away from my body, and then but out his hand. I flinched in fear, was he going to hit me, or worse. I flash my gaze to my dog and see he was now in a deep sleep.

I look at the other man that was sitting he didn't move but his eyes held he emotion I could read finally. Sadness, grief, I couldn't understand why. He was mumbling under his breath something. But he stopped when he saw me look at my dog. "We didn't hurt him, just gave him something to calm him down, so we could find you. Many men and women have seen your dog but never saw you. So they sent out us to find out more."

He spoke his voice soothing. I looked up at the both of them, they were looking at each other it looked like they were having an silent conversation with each other. I haven't spoke a word to them and I just couldn't bring myself too. So I stood there my dog sleeping on the floor next to the two men.

I looked at my bunker or what I called my home, my small blanket I took out of the home I once lived in was on the bed, it was ripped and faded but it still keep me warm at night. There was some empty cans in the the corner of the room, the cans only lasted the first few days in the bunker as I had to share them with Maverick. A pile of broken twigs and wood was in the other corner of the bunker, to keep them dry from the weather so I can use it for a fire.

The two of them gazed at me and the man with the hazel eyes spoke. "Let me introduce ourselves. I am Shaden and my partner over there is Kovu."

I smiled and nodded my head to show that I understood but I knew my eyes we glazed over and foggy. Shaden and Kovu just starred at me, it was a complete silence in the bunker besides Maverick snoring. They then looked at each other and one of the shrugged. Kovu then spoke "you are?" I stood there trying to think of words to say then speak my voice cracking and shaking "I can't remember, I just know...was 8 when I moved into here..maybe it was Alice?"
