Upon your vegetation i was birthed

Wailing an incomprehensible pledge, a salute to your awe

A thousand sonnets won't resolve my love for you

Your every imperfection, my every joy

African Olympus, home to the brave and the corrupt

We sing in our tongues your praises

We hold in our hearts your loyalty

Feeding on the soil trodden by my ancestors

Roots go deeper than the blind mole

Basking in the freedom of a dark era

Fought and won

But lost our families

Forever seperated by the stretch of the deep blue sea

An orphaned people

Devoid of a past

Unsure of a future

Rekindle this fire in me

Quenched by the waters of the western world

To light the path for a sequestered generation

Learn their eyes the beauty of their soil

For it knows the footsteps of our ancestors
