ONE: The Silence Before The Storm

Well I guess what hurt me most of all

You were playing with my heart

Tell me why am I emotional

When I knew it from the start...

"You know what would be completely scandalous?" Chantelle Pierpont asked me with her high-toned, birdie-like voice.

I turned my head towards her, watching her scrambling something down on her golden notebook, with her pink pen, which had some sort of puffy ball at the end of it. It moved every time Chantelle wrote her wannabe scandalous ideas. Truth was, for Chantelle Pierpont what was truly outrageous was to match purple with green, so I couldn't really count on her. But I heard her anyhow.

"To invite Percy Charmant to your Before School Starts Party and to not invite her!"

The other girls that were on our table, Clementine Blakesley and Jemima Baxter, eyed me carefully, not knowing what to say. They were waiting for my opinion so they could say what I expected them to say. And that truly pissed me off, 'cause I could never hear a candid answer. If I said that the sky was green with pink clouds, they were going to say that that's true and they were going to put down everyone that spoke otherwise. I like the loyalty, but not the stupidity.

"She already thinks that I have a crush on her brother, Chaz," I spoke soflty whilst the two girls in front of me nodded their heads, "And plus, Percy is the worst. He'll bring his forsaken friends and drink all the booze."

"Remember the party at the Ford Residence?" Jemima chimed in, her left hand in her blond locks, the other one pointed towards nothing in particular, behind Chantelle and I, "The one three weeks ago? I heard Percy took all the drinks and went to a beach party."

"Wait," I spoke quickly, putting down my black pen and leaning towards my friend, "What do you mean he took the drinks?"

While Clementine gasps and Chantelle laughs at the new information, Jemima moves her hands up and down, as if she was directing the traffic.

"I saw on PoshRats," she explains, "Didn't you guys saw the article? Apparently, him and his family are out of money or something like that."

PoshRats was a site, a website that also had his own Instagram and Snapchat account, where all the truly outrageous, vile and veracious truths about the high society of Manhattan, not only Upper Sides. A lot of pictures taken, a lot of secrets reveled and a lot of life ruined, that's why everyone loves it.

For example, Clara Forbes, a not so high in society girl who came to Evergreen School for Girls with a scholarship. There were rumors that she's been hanging out with the elite boys from Meadows School for Boys, but nothing was positive, until three days later, when PoshRats posted on all their social medias that Clara Forbes lost her virginity to the most infamous one from Meadows School, Theodore Da Ville. The worst part? She lost it in a hot tub, at his holiday house from Long Island, and there were pictures with her, with and without her top on. She became a pariah of Evergreen so she transferred somewhere else. I don't know where exactly, but I'm pretty sure she moved out of state. I didn't saw her at The Modern, Daniel, Jean-Georges or Le Bernardin anymore. Truth be told, were I her, I would move to Europe. That kind of pictures on internet would never disappear, but moving on another continent would be a great place to start.
