The thunder outside gave me chills. It sounded hollow, threatening, letting the world realize its presence. I've always had a thing for storms; Even when I was little. Something about running outside and feeling the raindrops touch you so delicately, and send a chilling sense of power through your body. Lightning lit up the room almost on cue, as I gave my mom one last hug.

"Promise me you'll be careful alright? And study hard, don't go to too many parties, they'll be plenty of time for that-" My mom struggles to get the words out through her cracking voice. I cant help but throw my head back with an exaggerated smile on my face.

"OK mom." I say in the voice you would talk to a puppy with. I love her to death, but I cant hide the butterflies in my stomach. Ever since high school, I've just felt the need to be on my own. I just craved something, someone new. Wren rasps on our glass door with his knuckles, before tossing it open and almost falling on the wooden floors as he leaps inside out of the rain.

"Damn, its drenching out there!" His eyes are wide with exasperation, and he throws his hood off, shaking his head like a dog, leaving his normally perfectly spiked hair now plastered to his wet skin. My mom narrows her eyes at Wren, but quickly hides her discomfort.

"Text me as soon as you get to the first rest-stop, and as soon as you get to the hotel and the campus, alright?" Wren walks up to me, wrapping his arms around my waist from the back, and I try my best not to slap him away for getting me wet, and instead give my mom what I know she needs to hear.

"Of course I will, I wouldn't have it any other way." I turn into Wrens stiff body, and wrap my arms around his torso, giving him a kiss. Fireworks go off in my body, making me tremble at his touch.

"Ready to go?" Wren nods wistfully, obviously lost in thought. I smile at my mom one last time before me and Wren get swept away into the storm, running for his white jeep. The back is packed full of my shit that the U-Haul track ran out of space for. Sometimes I think I have detachment issues to the weirdest things. I throw open the door, jumping into the car before it hits me on my way in. I bend over to grab the handle, slamming it shut behind me, and throw my head against the seat, letting out a sigh.

Wren leaps into the car shortly after me. Its safe to assume my parents had to give him some pep talk about taking care of me or some other bull that I assure you, he's heard at least a million other times. I snap my seat belt, and look over at him, with a grin I couldn't hide even if I tried.

"Lets do it."
