*set sometime in season 2*

It was a Saturday afternoon, Kara and Mon-el were sitting on the couch watching a movie. Eating popcorn from the shared bowl on Kara's lap. Mon-el kept stealing glances at her. Each time looking like he wanted to say something but deciding against it the last minute. He'd done this several times since they put the movie on earlier and honestly Kara was growing tired of it. She tried to ignore it the first few times, but now it was just getting annoying. Just spit it out already she thought in her head. The next time he did it she decided to say something.

Kara's pov.

"Mon what's wrong?"

"N-nothing." he looked away quick. Kara gave him a 'yeah right I know something is wrong look' kind of like the one's Alex gives her sometimes.

He sighed, accepting that he won't win this and might as well talk, "I just feel bad that my mother is here and threatening to hurt  you. I love her but I hate what she's doing."

She looked at him with a sad look, but also a look of love, that he was opening up to her. They rarely had deep conversations or opened up, but when they did, she always found herself falling even more in love with him. "I'm sorry you feel that way. It must be hard I mean she is your mom and you do love her."

"You know she wasn't always at bad person." She looked at him to continue. "When I was a child she was actually amazing. I remember always having so much fun while my father went to council meeting with other planets."

"But then, when I turned 14, she started going with my father to those meetings. leaving me by myself for hours, with nothing to do. It was lonely."

She squeezed his arm to comfort him and letting him know she was there. "You know we made up our own language. I was about 6 years old, and we made up our own language so my father wouldn't know what we were talking about." He smiled at the memory. "It was to plan a surprise party for him, but then it just became a silly thing that we had. Just the two of us."

She reached over and pulled him in a tight embrace, "I'm sorry Mon-el. I know you love your mother. She sounds like she was a great mom. I'm sorry she's doing this now, and I am sorry she killed your father."

Just as they pulled apart Kara's cell phone rang. Mon-el waited until she hung up. "I'm sorry Alex needs me at the DEO." She felt bad leaving like that. They were talking, Mon-el was opening up about his childhood, which is something he rarely did. "It's ok. You're a hero and earth needs saving." he smiled his signature grin at her.

She got up to leave, but he pulled her back down for a kiss. "Bangarang" he whispered as their foreheads touched. "What?"

"It's one of the words we made up, Bangarang, it means good luck."

She smiled and blushed a little "Bangarang" she whispered as she leaned in to capture his lips. And with that she left out the window and flew to the DEO with a smile on her face.

And ever since that Saturday afternoon, they always said "Bangarang" to each other, as a way of good luck. Even when everyone else around them was confused, they knew what it meant. It became a special thing they had, just the two of them.

Several months later, as she looked up in the sky at the pod that just took off somewhere into space, through her tears she choked out, "Bangarang." And then flew home.
