Darkness Among Us (Prologue)

Mount Ormand's below 0 temperature flew through your body, the raining snowflakes landing in your hair. You stepped foot after foot into the snow, walking up to the abandoned resort.
Frank, your best friend, said to meet him at the fire in the centre of the resort. You checked your watch, 1:02. Luckily it was Saturday, no school tomorrow, or today rather. You were wondering why he wanted you to come up here, even with the crime going on all over town. You could get hurt, he could get hurt. So during the whole walk, you were extremely tense.
As you walked into the main lodge, there was 4 figures sitting down surrounding the fire.  Masks lay next to each of them. The masks looked familiar though, as you stared and remembered, your breath hitched.
It was them, the criminals. Their masks were all over the news, CCTV footage everywhere. Robbing, vandalism, assault. They must've hurt Frank, they have yet to kill anyone... But the key word is yet... You slowly started to back away.
Then you ran. You ran like hell, they were gonna hurt you. They were gonna kill you. Was this a trap? Did Frank set you up? As you were running you heard stomps in the snow approaching, you turned to see one of them chasing you. With blood stained on the mouth and a slash of it through the eye. The wicked smile burned into your mind, you kept running. You were so focused you could hear their breathing, but it was actually because it was right behind you.
You were tackled to the ground, you started aiming for their crotch area with punches and kicks. Your hands were pinned to the ground coming in contact with the icy snow. You could tell it was a man from their heavy breathes and lack of chest. He started to laugh, he was gonna kill you. This wicked, yet familiar, laugh could only ever come out of a evil being.
He moved your other hand to hold them both with one and, he reached for his mask. Slowly taking it off to reveal a smiling Frank.
"Frank?! Fuck you, that wasn't funny!! You took me up here while it was snowing to play a sick joke?!" You pushed him off you, punching him in the gut while he was laughing. Then the 3 others came running up as well in masks.
"Let me guess, Joey, Julie and Susie" you asked crossing your arms. They all took off their masks and laughed too.
"Y/N it's not a joke! I wanted to tell you something, we wanted to tell you something!"
Frank insisted. You rolled your eyes and stared waiting for him to continue. Susie chimed in, "We're the Legion. The "criminals" you've been seeing on the News and crap, that's us!" Julie holding back a laugh spoke after, "You looked so scared Y/N! Did you think we were gonna hurt you or something?"
You rolled your eyes than thought, "Why are you telling me about this? What if I went to the police?" You asked them, than Joey spoke up. "Well, we trust you Y/N. Me, Julie and Susie may not be the best of friends with you but, Frank insists you're trustworthy and a good friend". After hearing that you looked to Frank with a hint of blush on your cheeks, "Did you really say that Frank?". He laughed nervously, "Of course not, Joey is just exaggerating". Susie and Julie eyed each other, rolling their eyes. They knew Frank had a huge crush on you, but would never admit to it, or admit to being gay. He actually hid it incredibly well, even to you. But from hanging out around the two of you, they've noticed the way he looks at you and how he talks about you. But Joey was none the wiser.
"Anyways Y/N, we wanted to ask if you wanted to go out with us! Cause some mayhem, or something lighter since it's your first time..." Joey spoke, "We even got you a mask!!" Susie said excitedly, pulling out a mask similar to Franks and Julie's. But the eye and mouth on the left side were red, while the whole right side was consumed with blood... "W-why is there blood on it?" You spoke out nervously, afraid of who's blood it was. "Chill out, it's just fake. Susie made it for Frank, and Frank suggested some blood. It's just red paint. But anyways, it's yours now" Julie answered. You took the mask from Susie and inspected it, "I think it's a little too big for my face..." You said putting it on, it immediately fell off. "Well yeah, you have to put your hood on, than the mask. So it stays in place" Frank said showing you. You did what he said, already wearing a hoodie to protect from the cold, and put the mask on.
"H-how do I look?" You said nervously, thinking you looked ridiculous. They all laughed, you blushed under the mask. "You look great, cool even" Joey said, chuckling. "Okay now let's go!" Susie said grabbing your hand, running down to a car you didn't notice before. "Where are we going?!" You said as Joey unlocked the car doors, "We're taking my car and going down to the town. As I said before" he paused, "Let's cause some mayhem" He said smirking.
Julie pushed you into the car laughing as you sat in between Susie and Julie in the back. Frank and Joey in the front. We drove down into town, before we got out Frank told me to put my mask on. "Y/N, we're going to vandalise the store that fired Joe. He's still a little mad about it so I dared him to" Frank chuckled. "Put your mask on, we're going in" He stated. You put your hood up and mask on, you always did what Frank said because you trusted him. Even if you thought it was dumb or dangerous. But right now, you were seriously nervous and about to re-consider. But before you could say anything you guys were inside the store.
We split up to vandalise the whole thing. I followed Frank while Joey, Julie and Susie went off on their own. They were knocking items off the shelves and eating snacks and opening whatever they could get their hands on. I just kept to myself following Frank, he looked back at you after laughing to himself, he noticed how you were just looking at the ground. He approached you and put a hand on your shoulder. "Hey Y/N, what's the matter? Why aren't you having any fun?" He said softly. "I-I don't really like doing mean things, being bad, it just isn't me..." You said shaking your head. "Aw come on Y/N! Just let it out, it was hard for Susie when we first started doing this. But just think about everything that makes you mad, and let it all out! Knock everything down, go wild!" He said knocking some more things off shelves with his other hand. "And hey, if you really don't like it, you don't have to come another time. Just give it a shot, for me?" He said lifting his mask up slightly to show his smile.
You smiled under your mask, "Okay!" you responded excitedly, being completely convinced by Franks charm. You started to follow suit in all the antics, you split off from Frank going down a different aisle.
When all of the sudden your mouth was covered, a cleaner who still remained in the store was waiting for one of you to pass by to pounce. You were struggling, but he was stronger than your weak self. You began screaming and thrashing which only came out as stifled cries.
But someone heard you, Frank heard you. Something took over Frank, a darkness, a evil. Without hesitating he took out his blade which he had kept concealed and stabbed the cleaner in the back. He let go of you and the both of you dropped to the floor, by then the whole group was surrounding you guys. He was there on the ground bleeding out.
You just sat on the ground slowly backing away, terrified. "What are you doing just standing there?! HELP ME!" Frank screamed out at the group. You began to hyperventilate as Joey took the knife and stabbed the man in the ribs. "I-I can't!" Susie said as nervous as you. "Yes you can and you will!" Frank yelled. Julie grabbed the knife from Joey and closed her eyes and jabbed the knife into the mans chest, and handed the wet knife to Susie. Frank grabbed her shaking hands and implanted the knife into the cleaners throat. Your mask had fallen off by this point, you were on the ground in a trembling mess. Your breaths getting shallower and shallower. The group turned to you, "Y-Y/N? Are you o-okay?" Julie spoke out, comforting Susie as Frank approached you. He had his knife in hand and you pushed him away the second he got close and screamed, "NO! S-stay away from me!" You yelled. Frank looked at you in shock and sadness. You tried to get up but fell back down, you couldn't breathe. Your vision began to get blurry as you passed out. Gasping for air.

You awoke in a car, Joeys car. You were in the back seat right where you were before, when driving to the store.
You quickly unbuckled yourself and got out of the car to realise, you were on Mount Ormond again. You heard voices off in the distance, Frank, Joey, Julie and Susie. You slowly approached them from the woods, trying to hide. They were digging a hole, with the cleaners body laying right next to it. You almost threw up, as you began to walk away you stepped on a twig.

Frank suddenly looked up at you, he couldn't see you though but he saw something. He quickly began to approach you as you started to run away. Frank closed in, gaining incredible distance on you and tackled you to the ground, you looked him in the eyes as he had the most wicked expression you've ever seen.
He reached his knife up about to stab you until he saw your face, the wicked expression faded away immediately into a concerned Frank.
"Y-Y/N! You're okay!" He spoke hugging you. You again began to tremble and shake.
"F-Frank! You killed that man! You all s-stabbed him!" You said, tears pricking at your eyes.
"I know Y/N, but, I couldn't help myself. He, he was gonna hurt you! When I heard you struggling, screaming, thrashing, and crying, I couldn't control myself anymore... He had to pay Y/N. He had to pay for ever touching you, putting his greasy hands on your mouth.
He H A D to suffer" Frank spoke, sounding, deranged.
"But you're safe now, Y/N. And that's all that matters. We're gonna take Joey's car and run away. All of us, we'll all be happy elsewhere. I know we will." Frank said, looking away.
He than looked deeply into your eyes, "Hopefully, me and you, can be happy together, Y/N." He spoke, leaning down and kissing you. You didn't understand what was happening. He was acting crazy switching from all these emotions rapidly. Something was wrong with him... 'Wait!' you realized, he was kissing you. You've dreamed of this moment, but not like this. Not after he murdered someone! You tried to push him off of you, but he just grabbed your hands and pinned them above your head like he did when he first tackled you before everything that happened. He forced his tongue into your mouth, exploring, than once he was satisfied he pulled back.
"Y/N, I've loved you for so long. I know you've loved me too. We've been through so much together-" He said, he was about to continue until we noticed something. There was a thick fog quickly approaching you. You two were almost completely engulfed. Frank quickly got off of you, helping you up, and he spotted a trail, completely void of fog, he began to walk off towards it, letting go of your hand that he forcefully held. You watched as he walked along the trail, almost lost, but knowing where to go.
"F-Frank! Where are you going?! That trail was never here before!" You screamed out to him, he didn't even flinch, like he didn't even hear you. You heard the brush behind you begin to move, Joey, Julie and Susie appeared.
"Y/N? What are you doing out here, and where's Frank?" Julie spoke, you fell silent. You didn't know what to say, so you just pointed to the trail. Once they saw it, they all began walking along it. Leaving you alone, as they disappeared from view, a fog settled in over the trail. Completely hiding it from view, as if it was never there. You heard more movement, extremely loud movement. Something was right above you in the trees. You were completely petrified, as Spider-like legs began to come down. Grasping at you, you stared as they descended the treetops. 'This is a nightmare, it has to be' you said to yourself. Regaining your senses, you began to run as the legs began reaching for you. One grasped at your leg and caused you to lose your balance and trip, eating a mouthful of extremely cold dirt. You stared up at the tendrils, they began to wrap around your legs and to pull you up. To the treetops, where the fog was at its thickest. You were crying, this was it. You were gonna die, you didn't know it at the time. But. You were lifted up, into the Realm of the Entity.
