Inspired by the song, Little Do You Know

Poem:
Little do you know
How much I want to see you,
from waking up to going to bed.
The morning light would shine on your face, illuminating your beautiful freckles and your eyes
and the nightmares would run away into the night

Little do you know
I think of the past, present, and future,
about what we were, what we are, and what we could be,
about both the fun and sad times,
about every time.

Little do you know
I want to pepper your face with kisses.
All the time, love is in the air.
There is nothing that could break our bond,
nothing to pull us apart,
nothing that would stand in our way.

Little do you know
How much I want to say,
but can't because I'm afraid to say too much.
The thought of scaring you circles my mind like a hawk looking for it's next meal.

Little do you know
When we have serious conversations,
you only hear a small portion of my thoughts.
A part of me holds the reins in my head,
to direct me,
to discipline myself,
to not say the wrong thing.

Little do you know
How much I am willing to sacrifice for you.
The bullets would never touch you,
I would make sure of that.
The voice in my head constantly reminds me to protect you,
no matter the cost.

Little do you know
How much I want to hold you.
Holding you calms me,
because I know that you are with me,
that you won't leave me,
that I'm not alone.

Little do you know
How happy I am being with you.
Everything about you brightens my day,
from your laugh to your smile,
and even the way you sing.

Little do you know
How much I wish that you could know all of this,
but you never will know.
Because little do you know
