"I do." I say, just before my lips touch Derricks. I was young, only 23, and careless. I thought that Derrick was The One. I never knew that those two words would be a gigantic mistake.

—Present Day, April 23rd, 2018–

"Derrick! Are you ready?" I call up the steps.

"Ready for what?" He asks, tromping down the stairs.

"It's our date night! I told you about it yesterday!"
I shout.

"Oh. I'll go shower." He seems disappointed. What the hell?

"Be quick! We gotta leave in 30 minutes!" Derrick lumbers back up the stairs.

"Stop being a nag!" He shouts back. I roll my eyes. This how our fights usually go down. I'm a nag, he's not home enough, etc, etc.

"Whatever!" I shout back, but I hear the water running already. He can't hear me.

I touch up my makeup with Derrick showers. While I'm applying blush, my phone goes off like a banshee. I check the caller ID, and ugh. It's my boss, or as me and my co-worker Alä, call him, The Creeper.

"Hello, Mr. Rossi."

"Same to you, Lucy."

"Call me Ms.Mayfield."

"Now, now, Lucy. I am your boss."

"I know, sir. Why did you call? Is there an issue with the Crossback lawsuit?" Get to the fucking point. I hate it when he does this.

"No, no. I just wanted to ask you a question." Now he's trying to be seductive. I've told him time and time again that I'm married. He never listens.

"What is it, Mr. Rossi?" I need to get off the phone. I hear my husband coming down the steps.

"What are you wearing?" Oh, shit. I gotta get off the phone.

"I need to go. I have a date-night with my husband."
I hang up quickly.

Now, off to our date.

I wonder how it'll go.
