CHAPTER 4- JUST FRIENDS...
Fast forward
Natalie is now 6 months pregnant
After a long day of work in the ED Will is in the doctors lounge getting his things together to go home for the night, Natalie passes by and sees him through the window- they shoot each other a sweet smile as she enters the door
N-"Hey Will, you have plans tonight? I was thinking of ordering Chinese and watching The Bachelor if you wanted to come over"
W-"Uh..yea I guess I'm free, but really Nat The Bachelor? You're better than that"
N-"hey a pregnant woman can enjoy greasy Chinese and trash tv"
W-"whatever you say, let's go"
Without even realizing it he took her bag from her shoulder and put his other arm around her and began to walk her to her car when he caught Maggie giving him the raised eyebrow expression she was known for out of the corner of his eye
W-"Night Maggie.."
M-" Mmhmm goodnight Dr. Halstead"
Will rolled his eyes and shyly smiles at the charge nurse as he and Natalie exit the ED
W-"I'll follow you, drive safe"
N-"yes doctor"
**Natalies house**
The pair had just devoured their dinner and were lying on the couch indulging in the newest season of The Bachelor, they bantered back and forth about the cheesy entrances made by the overly eager women exiting the limos, and discussed how anyone could ever think this was a good way to find love. When suddenly Nat grasped Wills hand and placed it firmly on her ever growing belly so he could feel her baby kick...
W-"woah Nat he's got a pair of legs on him...you might have a future soccer star in there"
N-"seriously he's been kicking the hell out of me for the last week...surprised he hasn't kicked his way out yet"
Will smiled and kept his hand where she had placed it for at least 5 minutes- for some reason he wanted to feel the baby kick again, but to his disappointment there was no more action from the little guy. Natalie was laying on one end of the couch and Will on the other, it had become their designated spots when they were keeping each other company (which was becoming more and more frequent with each passing day) Will couldn't help but notice the swelling in her feet and ankles and he knew it must be painful- especially with her demanding job requiring her to be on her feet all day, without thinking he started to rub her feet...
Natalie looked over at him, half thankful and half confused as to why he was rubbing her feet,"Will...you don't have to..." he interrupted her before she could finish her sentence,"I know I just know you've been standing all day and they are really swollen, I really don't mind" Nat shot him a smile,"Thank you Will." Within the next 10 minutes Natalie drifted off to sleep. Will couldn't help but notice how much Nat looked like an angel sleeping there, soft brown hair draped around her beautiful face, he didn't want to wake her so he carried her off to bed, tucked her in and planted a soft kiss on her forehead before letting himself out and locking up. As he drove home he realized that he was in over his head. He knew his friends and brother had been right- he wanted to be with Natalie.
