Zack yelled. He didn't know what was going on. He felt the plane lurch, and the sudden drop made his stomach lurch. He yelled with all he had, but suddenly everything went black.
Zack woke up sore and uncomfortable. He could see nobody. Nobody alive, at least. There seemed to be some people missing, but he wasn't sure who they were exactly. He just remembered Amy, the girl who went to his school, the girl who was his best friend, and, most of all, the girl he loved but wasn't sure she felt the same for him.
Zack had bright orange hair that stuck up in front. He was a tall, lanky 15 year old that was muscular. He had no freckles or anything of the sort, just a clean, handsome face. His eyes were gray, but sometimes their color varied according to his emotions and whatnot. Right now they were a slightly off-gray blue due to his confusion and feeling of being half-dead, added to the fact that he could barely move without hurting.
Zack knew he had to get out of the plane. He unbuckled his seatbelt, and slowly rose. It hurt too bad. He flopped back down into his seat. He looked around once more. most of the people seemed as if it was too late for them. Zack felt a rush of emotion and tears started to fall from his eyes. How could this happen? Zack had no idea, but it sure was lucky the force of the plane hadn't killed him, or hadn't had a heart attack or anything. He heard a groan. Zack still felt half-asleep, as if this were a dream. He couldn't take it anymore. He took a deep breath. He couldn't take not knowing what was going on and where everyone else was anymore. He took all the will he had and rose slowly. He saw a girl, seemingly around 13, breathing uncomfortably. She was crying silently. He drunkenly walked to her; his legs had been hit pretty hard by the seat in front if him when the plane made contact with the ground. He bent over, his hand on the overhead bin, and stared at her. She looked up, and Zack couldn't stop staring into her eyes.
"I-I'm Tiffany. M-my mom. S-she was waiting at t-the airport f-f-for me. I-I was supposed to s-see h-her..."
Zack felt himself feeling faint again, but he managed to say, "It's okay, Tiffany. I'm scared too."
This managed to get a weak smile from Tiffany, and Zack followed her out of the plane.
Zack looked around. He had no idea where they were. He looked down at Tiffany. Tiffany had dirty blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. They weren't shallow crystal blue, but deep blue with an icy edge, it seemed. Her nose was slightly turned up, but Zack thought it made her look beautiful. She had full lips, but they weren't exactly red. More of a natural color. She had some light freckles that sprinkled her nose and under her eyes. Zack felt a connection with her, but couldn't place it.
"Where are we?" Zack murmured.
Tiffany shrugged. She leaned a bit on Zack. They were on a beach, and after the beach was forest, as far as they could see. Zack pondered a bit and decided they were on a deserted island. There was no sign of human civilization. Maybe there were natives, but the thought never came to Zack. He was too parched and tired to worry about that. He put his arm around Tiffany in a brotherly way, and sat her down on a rock.
"Stay here. I'm going in the plane to get some water and blankets as well as jackets and such. I'll also check the emergency kit for a tent or something like sleeping bags for us. We also need matches. Oh, God, please tell me this isn't happening."
Tiffany looked at him straight in the eye. His stomach flipped.
"You're gonna need help with all that stuff," she said. "I'm helping you whether you like it or not. I don't want to be the weakest link."
Zack attempted a smile.
"Okay. I mean, it's your call. But thanks."
Suddenly, a twig snapped in the close forest. A voice yelled out, "WHO GOES THERE?"
Zack and Tiffany jumped. And the voice said, "Oh, it's just you guys." And the voice turned into Amy. Zack hurried to hug her, and cried. He wanted to kiss her so bad, but didn't because they were just....friends. Zack held her in front of him and stared into her eyes. And hugged her again.
Amy was a blonde with greenish hazel eyes. She was beautiful, no doubt. She was curvy, yes. Zack could be with her all day and never get bored. She was the reason he got up in the morning and actually tried to do well in school, just to be in the same classes as her. She was smart, funny, and perfect in Zack's eyes. She was all he could ever think about. She had Zack, and he would do anything for her. To him, Amy was the most important thing next to everything else. He was definitely falling for her harder than his previous girlfriends. Just about the whole school could tell that their relationship should've been more than it was, but Amy didn't, Zack supposed. All he knew was that the new situation would bring them closer than he could have ever imagined.
Zack wanted to kiss Amy to the point where it could've been the last thing he ever did. When he saw her, his heart melted and he couldn't stop holding her in his arms. He wished with all he had that she could love him, even the tiniest bit the way he loved her. He had totally forgotten about Tiffany. She was just standing there awkwardly. Zack had forgotten about her. When Amy walked in the room, she was all he could see.
"Ummm...hi?" Tiffany said.
Zack snapped out if it and put Amy down, blushing thoroughly.
"Amy, this is Tiffany, Tiffany, this is Amy."
"Hi."
Zack knew it would take a lot of focus now to not start dreaming about Amy now that they weren't alone. Besides, he needed that training anyways. They walked back to the beach, and Zack glimpsed the plane. Suddenly a rush of emotions took over. He felt himself hating everything, minus Amy, including himself. Why had he decided to take that plane? More so, why did he have to get up late and make them miss their flight? Zack simply stopped walling and sat down. He couldn't take it anymore. How stupid could he be? He wanted to punch something so hard, so bad.... Zack's eyes were now grayish-black. He was feeling only anger and hatred at the situation. Amy stopped walking. She bent down.
"Zack, what's wrong?"
He felt his heart tugging and his stomach flipping, and he couldn't be so angry anymore. But he was still mad.
"It's my godd*** fault. All mine. Because I didn't set the stupid alarm right."
"If it weren't for you, I would still be in that plane, feeling sorry for myself and eventually dying from hunger or something," Tiffany said in a small voice.
Zack looked up to her, his head cocked sideways. He gave her a hug.
"You definitely know how to control your emotions. More than that, you can control mine pretty well. Or maybe it's not that. Just, thanks. I was about to hurt something bad, real bad..."
Tiffany just looked at him. Amy tensed up a bit. Zack couldn't help but notice. But he didn't care in this case. Tiffany deserved it. Zack walked back to the plane and looked around. He saw a good place to build a shelter or put up a tent. It was near a bamboo portion of the forest, and he thought they could use that to make walls or a shelter if necessary. He went in alone, to get the tent, and heard the girls outside talking.
"Hey, Tiffany, do you like Zack or something?" Amy said, her voice ringing and beautiful like it always was.
Tiffany shrugged. "We just met, Amy. It's not like we're together or something..."
Zack laughed to himself. He would take a little longer...
"Well, I recommend you back off from him, because he already likes me."
"Do you like him?" Tiffany said in an almost-whisper.
Amy didn't reply. Zack didn't know if this was good or bad, so he came out of the plane, carrying the tent and some water.
"I found a good place to put it up."
He led them to the place, all the while not talking. As Zack opened up the tent, there were so many pieces. It looked like a few large tents. They separated the pieces accordingly. Zack opened up the manual. It was in a non-English language. Zack picked up the next manual. That wasn't in English either. There were three other manuals. Two of them weren't English. Zack closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The letters on the front seemed to be English. He opened his eyes and read the cover.
