"Why don't you talk to this guy? I like his cousin."
My best friend, Madison, was babbling on and on about now I should date this guy, Charlie."He's 21. My dad would kill me."
And that was true. My dad would not be in favor of me dating a guy who was 4 years older than me. Especially when I still had a little less than a year till I turned 18.
"He doesn't have to know he's 21. Just says he's 19. It'll be alright. Then we can all hang out together." Madison bribed.
Did I have a choice? She was my best friend. And hey, I was single? Why not give it a shot? I had just been through a toxic relationship that was on and off for 4 years. It was time for me to get out there and start dating. So I let the words fall out of my mouth.
"Sure, why not? Have him text me."
Little did I know what I was actually getting myself into.
"Ryker is on his way. What time will you be back?" Madison questions me.
Ryker is our gay best friend. We would be heading to our best friend, Patrick's house while Madison went to work.
A little bit about a Patrick, well, he's my best friend. I honestly don't know what I would do without him. I had a bit of a scare when he revealed he had feelings for me. It ended with saying we could give it a shot, being awkward for a few days, and then deciding friends was the better option. There was no way I could lose him. If the relationship didn't work, who knows what would've happened?
"Who knows, probably not too late. Maybe 9 or 10?" I respond.
"Alright, I should be home by then."
Suddenly, my phone went off. A text from Charlie asking when we could hang out. Well that was fast. Apparently he likes to get right to the point, huh? I was hoping I would like this guy. I mean he's 21, he should be mature right? So I thought.
"What up bitches?" Ryker walks in the room.
"Are you ready to head out? Patrick said we can come over."
"Yeah, I'm ready" Ryker says, checking his reflection in the mirror.
And so off we went to our favorite persons house. I swear Ryker only likes going there because he could smoke weed. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention? Patrick was a pothead, and so was Ryker. Our time hanging out there mostly consisted of them smoking and then eating. But I never failed to have a good time with them. Me? I didn't care for weed. Smoking has never really been my thing. It increased my anxiety instead of lessening it. Thankfully, I was never pressured by Patrick. Ryker, on the other hand, was a different story. He practically begged. Enough about that though.
We arrived at Patrick's and let ourselves right in. There was always tons of people here though. It was literally the place to go if you wanted to get high. Luckily, they still accepted me and my non-smoking ways.
"Delilah! Ryker!" Patrick exclaimed.
"Hey Patrick, missed you." I smiled.
"Always miss you." He smirked.
Even though we decided to not take our relationship to the next level, we couldn't help but flirt with each other. We both knew there was a connection, it could just never happen. So instead, we stayed friends and flirted with each other comfortably.
