Home Sweet Home

As a child I remember going out constantly with my family. Memories were important in our family. One time we went to an amusement park, it was really fun and very exciting. We spent about 5 whole hours in there. I was very far from home, I think around 3 hours but I couldn't be sure since I fell asleep on the way. We decided to stay in a local hotel from where the amusement park was. I was really exhausted since we spent so long at the park. It was amazing to get to the hotel and lay down in the comfy beds. It was literally like lying on a cloud. We all fell asleep around 9 o'clock.

Morning soon came. Everyone woke up at 8 am, we all headed home. Great, a 3 hour drive home..

Finally, we arrived back home.
"Home sweet home." said my father.

My mom reached into her handbag and pulled out her keys. She scanned through them all to find the house one. We waited there for precisely 30 seconds. Then she found the key and inserted into into the keyhole, she twisted it then opened the door. As soon as we walked in one by one we instantly smelt a cherry scent. Nobody in our family liked cherries as my father's brother was allergic to them, he'd stay often around our house since he had been having problems in his marridge. His wife filed for a divorce which made him skeptical about being around her incase he made things worse. So he stayed with us now and then.

Anyways, as we all sniffed the cherry scent we was confused.

"Who brought the cherry scent in here? Your uncle was supposed to be staying today."

My mother stared at the flower pot outside near the driveway.

"Jade, go check under the flower pot and see if the key is under there."

And so I did. I made my way outside and lifted it up slightly just so I can see if it was under there.
I didn't see anything. At that point we were all confused. I walked back into my house to tell my mom that I didn't see anything.

"Mom?"

As I walked in, I saw the devastated look on my father's face. As I walked towards him I smelt a really horrible odour. I looked into the room he couldn't keep his eyes off. It seemed to be the living room. I looked in without hesitation since I was eager to find out what was going on. I looked in and saw my Uncle, lying on our sofa. His face bright purple. He was suffocated I assumed. But then I realised, cherries.. he was allergic to them. Somebody inside this house killed him. But if we were all at the amusement park, who was it? My mother assumes it was his wife, but that's unreasonable to blame her just because they were having problems. To this day, we may never know. But maybe soon it will work itself out.
