Pidge missed a lot of things about earth but the thing she missed the most was surprisingly rain. The cool droplets that acted like freckles on her pale skin, the enchanting smell the earth emitted when it rains after a long time, the sound that used to sing her to sleep at night. Just thinking about the rain made her a little depressed since she longed for it to come back to her, but she was in space where theres no rain, and no puddles to splash in with your older brother, and no frogs to admire after the rain. Thinking about her childhood in the oversized raincoat and yellow rainbows made her happy but depressed at the same time, maybe nostalgic is the best word for it. Thinking about memories in the past and how happy you were, but missing those times at the same moment.
Pidge didn't really think that anyone else felt the same way she did, they all seemed so content with space and the rainless days. They didn't seem to be fazed by the change in environment, sure anyone would feel like "earth to space is a big difference." But the discrepancy between that kind of person and Pidge right now is Pidge isn't entirely happy in space. She longed to go home, she wanted to eat dinner with her whole family with BeaBea trying to snag food from anyone she could manage, she missed looking at the stars and moon with Matt, she missed her home. She couldn't stay here any longer, she felt like she would go insane if she was in the spaceship for one more night. She didn't however, want to say goodbye to the friends she made on this adventure, she planned to leave in the middle of the night so there would be no tearful goodbyes. God knows that Hunk would cry gallons of water saying goodbye to someone he met just an hour ago. She acted normal during the day so they wouldn't suspect anything, she planned to pack up her stuff and leave at around two am, thats when everyone is usually asleep.
Night fell and so did the curtain on Pidges space adventures. It was time to go home, it was time to see her family again, it was time to play in the rain again. She started to cry while writing the goodbye letter, it was better this way, better then being with everyone in a giant bear hug and crying together. All her things were packed in her backpack. She looked back at her petite room with tears threatening to spill out of her eyes, this was no time to be sad though, when one door closes another one opens. She smiled thinking about all her memories she had made with the members of Voltron, but for some reason the memory that saddened her the most was the space mall. Hanging out with Lance collecting random peoples quarters, riding a cow together, and buying the game system. That would be her cherished memory of her space adventures.
Pidge carefully walked down the halls for one last time with a somber smile and glassy eyes. She had two familys one in space and one on earth, the one on earth takes priority. She kept telling herself that, but no matter how much she would tell herself she wouldn't feel even the slightest bit happier. Rain that's what started this, that's why she started to long for home. She thought of the rain and instantly felt more determined to go back home. The mudpies, the puddles, and running around in the rain, that's home to her not astroids, stars, and aliens she didn't belong here, she belonged on earth with her mom, dad, brother and BeaBea.
The sound of slippers sticking against the marble floors stirred Pidge out of her thoughts. She was panicking. What would someone say if they saw her leaving? Would they feel betrayed? Would she be thrown out from Voltron from making such a hasty decision. No matter what ending she could conjure up in her mind it spelled out loneliness for Pidge. It stung a lot, she felt so stressed and scared she could've cried and did.
"Pidge why are you up?" A certain voice caused her even more panic. She turned around to see Lance in a full facial with his hair in a towel turban and a silk robe. She would have laughed and made fun of him if she wasn't so on edge right now. He had a completely confused look plastered on his face.
