The sun beating in my bedroom window made me stir in my sleep. Moments later I opened my eyes just as my alarm clock went off. I slammed my hand down to shut it off as I stood up and walked towards the bathroom. After I was done taking a shower I blow dried and straightened my hair. And got dressed (outfit in the sidebar). My school doesn't have a dress code, they don't care what you wear as long you don't bring in any weapons, and I didn't have money to buy new clothes for some stupid dress code. See I live on the south side of Folton. Folton is a small town outside of Chicago (this town is fake. I made it up). There are two sides of this town the north that was the was home to the really rich and stuck up people and the south which was home to the gangs and the poor and also my home.

I was done getting ready for my first day of senior year. So I walked downstairs and threw a cup full of dog food in the bowl and filled the other bowl with water. My dog happily ate while I ate some cereal, which was basically all I ate. When it was time to go I gave my dog, Kane, a kiss and locked the door. I pulled out my headphones and listened to music as I walked to school. If you want to know what kind of student I am, just know I'm top in my class and it's not because I'm that smart or anything it's just no one else tries to get good grades so as long as I have anything over a C I'm top in the class.

After school

School was horrible as always. I only had two friends, Mariah and Maggy. Both of them decided to skip the first day so I had no one to talk too. All day kids sold drugs and knives to each other and did nothing but talk and fight. Me, on the other hand, did my class work and payed attention not accepting any drugs or weapons. I was on my way home now, like this morning I had my headphones in. I got out of school at 2:30 and my walk took me about 15 minuets, it took 10 minutes if I took a different street, but that street had all the bars and clubs and other places that the biggest gang in town, The South Side Scorpions, hung out. I decided to walk that way because I forgot to let Kane out to use the bathroom this morning and I was really hoping he didn't go to the bathroom inside. As I walked down the street I just kept my head down and on my phone. I heard multiple guys catcall me and all of which ignored. I continued down the street when I felt a hand grab my arm and pull me back. I instantly turned around seeing an older man with salt and pepper type hair and beard.

"Let go of me." I wiggled my arm as my blood started to boil. I don't understand why these men think they can do whatever they want. He kept refusing to let go of me and he started to pull me over to some motel. Without thinking I raised my fist and it connected with his nose. Blood started running out of his nose and some out of my knuckles. He still wouldn't release my arm so I punched him again. I could tell he was starting to bleed a little too much cause he started to get wobbly and pretty pale. As I went to punch him one last time to finish him off a big pair of hands showed up, one hand grabbing my fist and one grabbing the guys hand on my arm.

"I think you've done enough punching. Okay?" I heard a deep raspy voice state. I looked up and saw vivid green eyes staring down at me. He turned away from me and to the man. "Okay, Ben let go and get moving." His voice now booming. The man, now I know as Ben, quickly let go of my arm and started to walk down the street. I wanted to do the same but now this guy was holding my fist. "I don't think punching him in broad daylight was a good idea."

"I don't think him dragging me into a motel in broad daylight was a good idea" I spit back at him.

"Ohh you're a feisty one aren't you? Well, how about you let clean your hand." He tightened his grip on my wrist as I tried to pull away. He started to examine my knuckles with his eyebrows pulled into a knot. "It might be broken."

"I can clean my own hand when I get home. So would you please let go of me before I do the same thing, I did to him, to you." I threatened as I glanced over at the man down the street with blood all down his face and shirt.

"1. You wouldn't dare to punch me in my nose and 2. I'll only let go if you let me walk home." I stared at this curly headed man for a few moments, I seemed to be the stubborn type and like I said previously I needed to get home so I have no time to argue.

"I have no time to argue with you, so I don't care what you do. I just need to get home." I stated as I started to walk away from him.

"Since when did south side girls have a curfew?" He asked as he took long strides to catch up to me.

"I don't have a curfew, but I forgot to let my dog out this morning, but since you, two idiots decided to not let go of my hand, the dog probably already shit in my house." I glanced at him as the words rolled off my tongue, I saw his nose curl up. The rest of the walk was silent. We arrived at my house and I could see my dog jumping at the door. I made sure the gate was shut when the curly headed boy and I walked through it. I walked up to the door and unlocked it, letting my dog run out to the grass.  "So what's your name?"

"What's yours?" He raised his eyebrows and I raised mine back.

"Excuse me? You're on my property and I asked first."

"You mean I'm on your parents' property. So just tell me your name."

"My parents are dead. So tell me your name or get off MY property." I opened the front door when my dog ran up to it, to go back inside, as I turned to walk inside I heard him mutter something. "What'd you say?"

"I said, Harry. My name is Harry. And um I know Main Street is probably the quickest way home from school. You can walk down it all you want, I'll make sure no one messes with you. I promise." He turned and started walking towards the gate.

"My names Aubrey. I normally go by A." We both smiled at each other and walked our own ways.
