Alexander II Hael, founded the Order of Stark to rule the North. The Order is headed by a small council and the King in the North. It is more inclined towards a militaristic point of view, though still holding a strong government. Each member of the small council is tasked with heading a branch of the Order: infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineering, City watch, and King's Guard. Along with the primary branch of infantry comes a division known as the Night Wolf Regiment, an elite group of loyal and skilled soldiers sent into enemy camps and behind enemy lines headed by the King's Hand. In the Order it is taught that along with his sword and shield, a man's uniform is his life. It was because of this that along with a standard soldier's Gambeson, he would wear a hauberk and a grey surcoat that displayed the mans rank, the Order's Device and the device of the house that the man belonged to. Soldiers that where higher up wore scale armor or segmented plate armor and a similar surcoat. Lower ranks also wore a face-plateless sallet helmet, while higher ranks wore one with the face plate, both wore a crest and plume, the plum is different depending on which branch a soldier is a part of. The plum of a cavalry man is a long, red, horsetail like plume. The plum of the city watch is white and curves backwards like a mohawk. The artillery and engineering plum is grey and faces forward.  The infantry and King's guard wear a metal crest. Each infantryman was equipped with a long sword and rounded tower-shield, similar to what house Bolton used in the HBO TV series during the battle of the Bastards. The only exceptions were archers who carried the same sword along with a hip quiver and a longbow. City watch was equipped with a spear and, if it came to riot control, a shield. Cavalry held a curved saber designed to chop down enemies from the saddle. King's guard wore strong full plate armor and carried the weapon they were best with using so as to best protect the king and royal family.
The Night Wolf Regiment was something of a mystery. They wore a thick Gambeson and a black, thin leather overcoat instead of a surcoat. Instead of the spanghelm worn by standard soldiers, the Night Wolves wore armored hoods called cowls and an armored bandanna, all with the color black to help them hide in the shadows. They where equipped with a short, one-handed sword, a re-curve bow, and secured back quiver. Instead of having a white Dire Wolf on a grey plain on their chest, Wolves, as they were known, wore a black Dire Wolf on their shoulder and back, and their rank and house device were displayed in the breast of their coat. The words if The Night Wolf Regiment were "We are the Wolves that reap the Night!" because that is exactly what they where.
