Faster they are gaining, were the words running through Roxanne head as she ran tord the darkened part of the Rivun forest. It was the only place that she new that the humans following her would not go, no matter how much they wanted her dead.

"Look over there men, there is the beast," yelled a man followed by the exited yell of his companions as they ran her way.

Hell she wished that the damn humans would stop and realize that she was the one who had saved there group on the road not the one who attracted it. The demon who had attacked them was still out there somewhere hunting them... She hoped. Most demons would not give her a second glance unless she was bleeding or she openly attacked them letting them see she was one of the half breeds. Even tho they had the same blood pumping through each other the demons would stop hunting the humans if they caught wind of one.

Half breeds were the god forsaken mix of humans and demons that were out casts of both, making life harder for there kind. The heart of Rivun was one of the only safe places for her and her kind and her birth place. She new the forest like the back of her hand, were every tree was, the quickest places to get a way, and most importantly were the boarder was. As soon as she past the boarder she would be free for if there was one thing the humans feared was a group of half breeds. For they had an advantage over them... that demon blood ran through there veins making them stronger, more flexible, and what they feared most of all was that some have a lust for blood.

As she moved to avoid a tree an arrow shot past her just barely missing her shoulder and hit the tree to her right with a loud thud. But the only thing she could hear was her heart beat for that was the tree marking the boarder. But her excitement was Short lived as an arrow landed in her left shoulder with enough force that sent her face first into the earth infront of her. The next thing She knew she was being rolled over and saw a battle axe ark up towering over her head with all the men laughing in the backround. Man in front of her held his axe above his head at an angle as if to cut her head of.

Roxanne just closed her eyes and awaited the finishing blow to be delivered for she had no more fighting power left in her. she had cuts all over from the trees brushing against her skin, slashes from the demon at the cross roads, and the arrow in her shoulder but the axe never came.

She opened her eyes to see the man in front of her looking over her head in terror. He was frozen in place as 3 arrows hit him strait in the heart. As he fell to the ground his axe fell to the side of him, landing sharp end down on the side of Roxanne's stomach.

She herd the sound of screams and battle-cries coming from every direction. from the axe in her stomach to the little scrapes one her body her had no energy to do anything.

After what felt like hours the battle was over. Roxanna struggling to keep awake for she was not going to die so close to safety. She felt the battle axe's blade leave her stomach and whimpered at the pain. her head was lifted as someone prop it up. as there face moved into view she felt her eyes start to fall feeling the iron grip of sleep pulling her toward the world of dreams. She managed to whisper the name of the person hovering over her...

"Nolen."
