Alison had occasionally thought about the dream she had, trying to figure out if it was a memory or just her own imagination possibly trying to picture her parents. but she didn't care about it much as it wasn't unusual for her to be having dreams like this. everyday she came home from school to find her grandmother sitting in the living room distantly staring at the TV even though Alison knew she wasn't paying the slightest attention to what ever was on it. she silently took a deep breath and tried to pull a bright, enthusiastic smile.
"hey gran, the weathers got a lot better lately!"
of course she wasn't expect any comment for a reply, i mean gran couldn't anyway. ever since her parents died in a fire, gran lost the ability to speak and she couldn't move very well, that's why Alison tried to make sure that she gave her gran hope and as much love as possible, but she was never quite sure what was going through her gran's mind. Alison put her bag down and sat faced to her grandma's face, she looked at her grandmothers face lovingly and gave her a strong hug. she felt her eyes starting to sting, she knew she had to stay strong, for her. she let go of her, her gran was still staring at the TV. no expression of any type of feelings on her face at all.
Alison went to the kitchen and put the kettle on to make her gran's favorite herbal tea. she filled it with water and put it on the stove to heat up. the kitchen wasn't very big but she was ultimately grateful. her parents had a good fortune. she took out a beautifully designed china teacup and placed it with a matching china tea plate. she sat patiently watching the flames from the stove boiling the water.
"I do wish that we had more gas, the flames are so weak." she said to herself
at home, they were running low on gas. those days people were finding harder to cope, the days grew colder and money grew thinner. she had to prepare her payment for the gas, electrical and water supply bills. she watched the flames flicker, burning a bright sunset red. she watched it intensely. she almost felt the heat gently blow across her cheek. once again she felt the sensational heat from her dream in her palms. the flames gradually grew stronger. she tried to look away, but it made her feel energized. her emerald eyes glowed green. all of a sudden the fire on the stove flashed from red to a great burst of sparkling green. she gasped and was slightly pushed back from a soft force of the flames. still recovering, she looked back to the stove. it still burnt green.
"what in the world is going on!?" she whispered to herself in utter shock.
she rubbed her eyes, fear engulfing every other sense or feeling she had. But. the stove. The fire. it was the bright red it once had been. she sighed with relief. she must have just daydreamed a 'little' too much she thought. she smiled to herself "its alright, phew!" she chuckled "Oh God, my mind is really messing with me!"
she made grandma's tea, exhaling through out the process. she carefully placed the tea in her grandmother hands and ensured that she didn't spill it. her grandma took small sips and then stopped. Alison then understood that this meant that her gran no longer wanted any more tea so she took it back to the kitchen to wash up. evening had come and Alison had fed her grandmother dinner, she then put her grandmother to bed planting a soft kiss on her head. just as she turned to leave she thought she seemed to see her gran smile, she took a second glace but saw no smile. giving a silent sigh she went to her own room. in exhaustion she fell on top of her bed. she stared up at the ceiling, bathing herself in her thoughts. Alison closed her eyes. she started to get a piecing headache. she moaned and sat up, rubbing her temples.
