December 24, 2015 Friday night 8:30pm.

As I drove through the rural country side of West Virginia I couldn't help but wonder how I'd gotten lost. The directions to Jackson's house had been simple yet here I was confused as he'll in the middle of no where with no cell service. On top of that my check engine light was on and I hadn't seen a gas station or mechanic for an hour.
Yep that's right an hour. This guy Jackson only lives 30 minutes from me but I'd been driving for hours. He'd told me he was having this huge party for Christmas eve and that I could come if I wanted so I told my mom I'd be home around 1:00-2:00 am. Now I wasn't sure which way home was.
I kept driving by rolling hills of green and I could see blue mountain peeks peeking above the treetops. It's insane that there's no cell towers around like seriously. I passed some campers at one point and asked them about the address I'd been given and they just gave me a funny look.
I was so bored the radio wasn't picking up anything but static and it was dark out already. It's weird, I'm from Berkley Springs a small town in West Virginia but no matter what time it is we always have light shining in our town. But out here, in the deep forest of the blue ridge mountains the darkness is complete, solid, it's something that settles in the air and makes itself at home. It's a living thing that feeds on your fear.
I pulled out my phone to turn on some music I'd downloaded earlier that day when-
     Pop
"Oh no no no. No.why!" I pulled to the side of the road and laid on my horn Moaning in despair as I listened to the hiss of air leaving all 4 of my tires. I got out of the car turning my phone light on to see what had happened.
I set my keys on the hood of the car and shined my phone light on my left front tire I could see that it had 3 large holes in it. The holes were in a row a cross my tire as if deliberately put there it struck me as weird I checked the left back tire and the same pattern was there. I shined my phone light under my car and sure enough there was-

Feet. Large boots. Mud on the soles and dried blood decorated the laces with polka dots. I barely registered the fact that the third tile had the same whole and the fourth one probably would too.

Slowly I rose and looked across the car and no one was there. I'd seen enough scary movies though, no one had to tell me black people always die first. That was a known fact and I wasn't a virgin either. I grabbed the front door handle and-
     Beep Beep-Click
I jumped so high at the sound of the door locking then realized the door was locked and my despair made my heart nearly stop as fear settled In on me. The darkness surrounding me getting heavier. I felt like I was going to collapse. Then I remembered.
     Auto lock
We just got this new auto lock thing where if your car turns off it locks itself after a few minutes. Relieved I put my hand on the hood to grab the keys.

Gone.

Ok so they fell I'll just- I got on my hands and knees and checked the ground shining my phone light around. They were gone. I knew they hadn't fallen, they'd been taken. My phone light was shining towards the road I'd come from and a shiny metallic glint caught my eye.
With terror rising in my throat, fear radiating through my bones and despair crushing my lungs I slowly rose and walked toward the glint.
It was a chain like thing with large nails sticking out of it. I was staring, horrified. The chain twitched. Barely noticeable but I saw it and It occurred to me to figure out where it went I looked to the left and the chain slid as if yanked out of the road.
That was enough to get me started I took off in the opposite direction, past my car and into the darkness, running down the road.
