Emma woke up to her alarm and started her normal every day routine, not knowing what the day had in store. She went into the bathroom and brushed her teeth before returning to her room to find something to wear. Her closet was pretty bland, her father never bought her anything fun or bright for some reason. She looked through her options, all very dull colors like black, gray, light blue and pink. She sighed and grabbed a pair of dark wash jeans and a light blue V-neck sweater and put them on. She grabbed a pair of white socks and laced up her gray sneakers before going back to the bathroom. She pulled out a little bag of makeup and put on a light coat of mascara and lip gloss, which was all her father allowed her to wear. She wished she could do more but that would end up more trouble than it was worth. Thinking about that brought her back when she first tried makeup. She was in the bathroom putting on some red lipstick when her father found her. She had already put on some eyeliner and eyeshadow and liked it, but boy did her father rip into her when he saw her face.

"You are not allowed to wear makeup! You will draw attention to yourself! Take it all off now!"

Emma was too scared to question anything he had said, and she wiped it all off and then watched her angered father leave the bathroom. That was the first and last time she had tried to do much of anything with makeup. He had had the same reaction when she had wanted a bright purple shirt growing up. 'Nothing to draw attention to yourself' he would say, although she never understood why he said that.

Emma shook her head, bringing her back to real time and looked in the mirror and sighed. 'It's as good as it's going to get I guess' she thought to herself. She then pulled the hair tie out of her braid and let her hair go lose into its' natural dirty blonde waves. She ran her fingers through her side bangs that covered her eye before shrugging and walking out of the bathroom. She retrieved her backpack from her room and headed downstairs. Emma grabbed a piece of bread before starting her walk to school. She popped her headphones into her ears before turning the playlist on her phone on and walking the 20 minutes to school. Most kids would hate walking so long to school but Emma loved being out of her house, she felt free. The walk never felt lonely because she had her music in, she just loved being outside. Once she was home she wasn't allowed out of her house, so this was the only outside and alone time she ever got. Emma walked happily to the school and softly sang to her music. Once she reached the school she walked in and went straight to her locker, where she put in the combination and placed her backpack. She grabbed her binder and a pencil and her book before shutting the locker door and spinning the dial. There were quite a few kids at school already, all in their group of friends or with their boyfriend/girlfriend. Emma walked past a couple making out against a locker and felt a small pang in her chest. She'd never been in a relationship, much less been kissed. But she wasn't surprised as she didn't even have so much as a friend here. She made it to her first class and took her usual desk in the back corner and started to read. Her favorite books were romance, it made her feel as if she wasn't alone. After about half an hour class started. It was the usual boring lecture which Emma took notes on even though she'd remember it all. Once her first class was over she went on through the rest of the day as normal. When she got to her last class she let out a sigh. 'I have to go home soon...' she thought to herself. The teacher was out of the room for a while and the class started getting noisy because there was no teacher. Emma rolled her eyes and pulled her book back out. She didn't even realize the teacher was back into the room until she called everyone to attention. Emma shook her head to get her back to reality and put the book away before looking up at the teacher.

"Everyone we have a new student joining us today" She waved her hand toward her and Emma saw a figure emerge out of the shadows. "His name is Aiden Young." Emma looked over the boy and felt some sort of recognition but shook it away. She hardly knew anyone and if he was new she definitely wouldn't have known him before. He had perfectly styled brown hair and glasses that framed stunning turquoise eyes. He wore jeans with a plain black t-shirt and a gray hoodie jacket and a jean jacket on top. 'Wow...' Emma shook her head. She shouldn't bother developing a crush. It would never happen. He was clearly one of the popular guys and would be swarmed by the football players and cheerleaders trying to get him to hang out with them. Emma decided to focus on getting her notes ready instead of staring at the new boy. She was so lost in her mind she didn't even notice that he came over and sat right next to her. He turned to her and held out his hand.

"Hi. I'm Aiden."

Emma jumped slightly. 'Why is he sitting next to me of all people???' Emma could already see the rest of the girls in the class glaring at her. She ducked from her gaze and saw that Aiden still had his hand out and was smiling at her. 'That smile...it seems familiar. Safe.' She pressed her lips together trying to think of how she could have possibly known him before thins.

"Um...you okay?"

Emma looked up and realized that she had totally ignored him. He was rubbing the back of his neck nervously with his other hand.

"Oh, right. Sorry I was kind of lost in my own little world" She blushed a little. "I'm Emma. It's nice to meet you." She gently shook his hand and then put her hands in her lap. Aiden smiled.

"Nice to meet you Emma."

Emma nodded.

"Nice to meet you too."

Aiden smiled and pushed his glasses up. "At least someone here looks friendly." He chuckles softly and gestures over his shoulder to wear all the other students were glaring at her. Emma bit her lip.

"Yeah..." She laughed softly.

"Alright class get out your notes and let's start."

Emma grabbed her notes and stated writing down what the teacher was saying. She kept catching Aiden glancing at her and she couldn't help but blush. 'He's really cute' she thought to herself.

After class she gathered her stuff in her arms and was walking to leave the classroom. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Aiden jog up beside her and smiled.

"I guess I have something to look forward to in English now." He chuckled and pushed his glasses up again.

Emma smiled. "Same here."

Aiden's phone started buzzing from his back pocket and he pulled it out and frowned before turning back to her. "Sorry, I have to cut this short. I need to take this. I'll see you soon though." He smiled.

Emma nodded. "I'll see you soon." She walked toward her locker and got her things out and everything placed in her backpack. She shrugged her backpack on and pulled her hair out from under the straps and walked toward the main doors. She saw Aiden by the doors on the phone and she saw his face. He looked quite happy. As she approached she heard a piece of his conversation.

"Yeah... yeah I found her. It's definitely her. I talked to her in English."

Emma passed by quickly and rushed outside. 'Wait what is he talking about??? I'm the only girl he talked to in English... but what does he mean I found her?' She walked home quickly, not sure what he meant by that but worried. 'Who's looking for me?'
