copper
chapter 1ethan's pov
i pull open one of the big, heavy double doors leading into heritage high, my school.
i didn't bother trying to close it gently since the school was already loud.
slowly walking through the hallways i'm greeted with 'what's ups' and 'heys'.
i gave everyone a simple wave and a smirk in response.
i continue walking down the long, tan hallway in search for my group.
"yo, ethan!" a familiar voice shouts.
my head snaps to the end of the hall where the voice came from.
"what's up, man." i greet nathan, one of my bestfriends.
we arrive to where the rest of the group was standing, forming a circle.
"hey baby," i gently whisper in my girlfriend, jayla's ear.
"hi." she sends me a genuine smile and gives me a quick peck on the cheek.
jayla is truly amazing, she treats me right.
i've known her since second grade so we practically have grown up together.
i can't imagine my life without her in it, even if she's not my girlfriend, i always want her around.
i make my way into the circle, next to jayla and wrap my hand around her waist as we listen to the rest of the clique chat.
"party tonight at mine, 8:30." tyler informs us.
"hold up, it's only the end of the first week of school and there is already a party?" mali, jayla's bestfriend, asks.
"obviously, it's tyler." grayson rolls his eyes in a jokingly manner, causing us all to let out a small laugh.
grayson is my twin, my other half, and my best friend.
he can be a real pain in the ass sometimes but i wouldn't have it any other way.
the obnoxious bell rings overhead, signaling class is about to start.
the group splits up and goes their separate ways.
____the annoying bells rings once again meaning the last class of the day is over.
i let out a sigh of relief as i gather my things and walk out the classroom door, towards jayla's locker.
"i'm so ready to get out of here." i tell her as i lean against the lockers next to her's.
"ethan, school isn't that bad." she raises and eyebrow at me.
"um yes it is."
"whatever," she chuckles, swinging her bookbag over her shoulder. "let's go."
i push myself off the locker and follow behind her as we head towards my locker.
"oh look she has the same bracelet as you." she points across the hall to a girl's small wrist.
i see the same copper bracelet i always wear, the one that means so much to me.
"what?" i ask confused since my bracelet is one of a kind.
"it looks the exact same as yours"
we both look towards my wrist, seeing that the bracelet is no longer there.
"where did it go?" she asks me.
"i don't fucking know." i start to panic as i press my hands against all of my pockets, checking for it.
my grandma gave my that bracelet before she died, i can't loose it.
"i'm sure you just left it at your house, we can go look for it" jayla assures me.
"or she stole it." my voice comes out louder than i expected it to.
"ethan what to do you mean, she didn't steal your bracelet."
"j, listen to this. it's one of a kind and the day we saw her with it i don't have it on my wrist. it makes sense." i tell her the facts.
"oh my god, let's just go. she didn't steal it calm down." she grabs my hand and gently pulls me along.
"fine but i'm asking her about it next time i see her."
