Ayyye we're back!!! So...this chapter doesn't actually focus on Evelyn but rather focuses on the friend that started the whole adventure.
School. Evelyn hated school. It was a torturous place for her. Everyone there was nothing but a piece of shit. After Sirena committed suicide, she became the 5th friend who had ended her life early. By now, the whole school knew about her past with dead friends. She had gained the nicknames 'Deathgirl' or 'Death Bringer'. She never cared for the nicknames. She did, however, care about how far her classmates were willing to go to make sure she herself wanted to die. Classmates made sure to stay at least 4 feet from her. Some even went as far as to beat her. Evelyn would go home with bruises and cuts, hiding them with her clothes in hopes that her parents wouldn't notice.
Evelyn never told her parents about her friends. Just like her therapist, they probably wouldn't have believed her. So she kept everything inside; her friends' deaths, the beatings, the bullying.
Switching POVS
Ashley had never seen a school quite as large as this one. She took a breath as she entered the school, nervous to meet the people inside. The moment she got inside, she got handed all of her school essentials and had another student tour her around the school.
As they explored the school field, Ashley noticed something....or someone sitting out in the field, far away from everyone else.
"Who's that?" Ashley asked, pointing at the person.
Her guide pursed her lips.
"That's Evelyn. Or Deathgirl. She creeps the hell out of me. Did you know that every single one of her friends have committed suicide recently? One of them was named Sirena. Sirena was so nice, no one would have ever guessed that she would end her life. Deathgirl over there probably caused it."
"That's horrible!" Ashley exclaimed, horrified.
"I know! Now everybody stays away from her." Her guide said.
"NO! Not that! What's horrible is all of you treating her like trash when she's lost all of her friends to something so tragic! How stupidly rude can you be? You bully a girl for something she can't be blamed for. It's not her fault that her friends just DECIDE to end their lives. In the end, every suicide is a choice." Ashley scolded.
"Why the hell are YOU defending her? Can't you see? She's a murderer! She's bad news! She's dangerous!" Her tourguide said.
"I think being around people who would abandon someone else in pain makes me just like you, an asshole." Ashley fired.
Ashley then turned and walked towards Evelyn, ignoring her guide shouting for her to come back. As she moved closer, she saw that Evelyn was crying. Softly, she put her hand down on her shoulder. Evelyn jumped and spun around quickly.
"Who the hell are you?!" She demanded.
"My name is Ashley." Ashley said calmly.
"You're not gonna run away from me? Scream? Hide?" Evelyn questioned.
"No. That's stupid. You're just someone in pain. You need....a friend." Ashley said.
"Will you be my friend?" Evelyn asked.
"Hell yeah, I'll be your friend!"
Timeskip to a few weeks later....
Ashley was happily humming to herself, on the way home after a long day of school.
Evelyn seemed happier that she was around and actually started standing up for herself afterwards. Ashley was glad that she was able to save someone as hurt as Evelyn, someone who was in their darkest moment and she was able to lift them back up again.
As Ashley opened the door to her house, she heard sobbing. She climbed up the stairs slowly, carefully. She found that the sound came from her parent's room. The door to their room creaked open as Ashley poked her head inside.
She regretted it.
She regretted it so much....
As she looked inside, she screamed in horror to see her mother hanging from a noose on the ceiling. Her mother's skin had turned pale. Her eyes once a lively brown....had turned dull and lifeless. Her arms hung limply beside her as her body rocked softly back and forth.
Her father was at his knees, sobbing his heart out for his lover that would never return. Tears pricked at Ashley's eyes and she too found herself weeping at the sight. Her father noticed her and motioned for her to come to him. He threw his arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug. Together, the two of them sobbed for several minutes, with only each other's embrace as comfort.
Ashley decided to call Evelyn, perhaps she could make things better. Evelyn assured Ashley that she would be there in five minutes.
Switching POVS
Evelyn arrived at the house, worried for her friend as she sounded like she was crying over the phone. She entered the house and called her friend's name. No answer. Growing more concerned, Evelyn assumed that Ashley was upstairs. She climbed the tall stairs, walking up two at a time. When she reached the upstairs, she searched in Ashley's room. Ashley was not there. Evelyn noticed that the door to Ashley's parents' door was open. She crept inside the room.
"Ashley? You in here? Are you okay? You sounded like you were crying over the pho-" Evelyn finally noticed the body of Ashley's mother.
She had flashbacks of all of her old friends, some which had died the exact same way. Insanity started talking, whispering the words 'You couldn't save them. You couldn't save them. You couldn't save them.' The flashbacks became more intense, showing off every facial expression of her friends' corpses. Then it flashed to Ashley's mother. No, the same thing was happening again. It couldn't be. She couldn't rip her eyes away from the hanging body. Her eyes filled with tears and she instantly curled up into a ball. Soon after, her body froze up, not allowing her to move. She could do nothing as the flashbacks continued.
Switching POVS
Ashley looked up from her knees to see Evelyn curled up in a ball, soundlessly mouthing words and eyes glazed over.
"She's having PTSD....." Ashley thought to herself.
It was a bad idea to bring Evelyn here, with the body. With everything that has happened to her, it should've been expected that she would react like this.
'Stupid me.' Ashley cursed herself.
She got up and grabbed Evelyn's arm. Evelym didn't move an inch. Ashley then literally dragged Evelyn away from the scene. As though a spell had just been broken, Evelyn returned to being able to move and speak again.
"I-I'm so s-sorry, Ashley. I know exactly how you feel." Evelyn empathized.
"I know." Ashley whispered, on the verge of crying again.
Evelyn pulled Ashley into a hug and let her sob into her shoulder, patting her back gently and waiting for her to be able to produce no more tears.
Switching POVS
Evelyn knew exactly how Ashley felt. She had experienced it five times already. She knew that when she was feeling this, all she ever wanted was someone to comfort her. So that's exactly what she gave Ashley. She would stay here all night long if that's what Ashley needed to get over her grief. She couldn't bear to see her friend like this. To feel such an overwhelming emotion. But she was here now, and ready to get over this with Ashley.
Stay tuned for next chapter. Ashley's story isn't over yet! We'll be trying to update within the next few days. We'll try to get it by tomorrow, at its earliest.
