As Shadow ran through the dark forest, desperately trying to escape from his family, he was so zoned out to notice an approaching wolf pack.
This certain wolf pack was well known, feared, and slightly infamous. It was a pack of 6 wolves, and the alpha was ruthless, merciless, unforgiving, unreasonable, and doesn't give up the hunt... no matter how impossible it seems.
Shadow's scrawny figure collided with the back leg of the alpha from the 'New Moon' pack. Shadow whimpered loudly and scrambled backwards in pain.
The alpha barked, spun around, snapped its jaws at whoever and whatever was behind it. Judging by the force of the collision, and where the thing had hit, the alpha had first assumed it was a rabbit, or some type of wildcat. He was wrong.
It was in fact a young wolf pup.
It was very clear to the alpha that this pup was a runt. He'd had a few runts in his litters too. He studied the pup for a long second, noting the way it trembled and whimpered. It's ears were frozen from the winter's breeze, and it's fur had blood smudged all over the top of his shoulder.
Usually, the alpha - being who he is - would have killed the animal by now. This slightly shocked his pack, because they know him so well, and it astounded them when the alpha started licking the pup's wound.
"There, there..." the alpha coed in a gentle whisper. "You're alright. You startled me. How fast were you running? You made quite an impact on my hind leg."
The wolf pup didn't answer, he was too afraid.
"... Are you hungry?" the alpha continued
The pups whimpering softened, which meant the answer was 'Yes'. So the alpha picked the runt up by the back of its neck and carried it back to his den. There, he gave the pup to his mate, Luna, so she could clean him up and tend to his wound.
~
By 11 months, the alpha had learned of this pups past... and it enraged him. The anger was SO strong that it encouraged the alpha to make this pup a hunting machine... and that's just what he did.
Shadow's training started not even 4 months after he'd joined the pack. The alpha, who's name was Echo - I know, kinda weird - made Shadow do all sorts of unbelievable things. His mate did not agree, nor did half of his pack. He fought with his mate a few times because the training was so brutal.
... But in the end, it all paid off.
Shadow, by the age of 1, was a large muscular beast. He was feared by many lone wolves, even though he'd never engaged any wolf packs. Shadow never missed a kill, and he would track a single rabbit all day, and all night, because it meant he wouldn't return home with nothing.
Shadow was always the strong silent type... but that's only because of what his former family had put him through. But now that Shadow was the perfect replica of the wolven Rambo, Shadow did not fear ever having to go through something like that ever again.
