Aelin was awake but she didn't dare open her eyes for she didn't know what trick of Maeve's could be at play at this moment. It was too good to be true. She had gotten sleep without any nightmares and she knew the pine and snow scent that she was inhaling was the reason. She tried very hard to keep the memories at bay. She had no intentions of giving up so easily. She knew. She knew what the dark queen was trying to do. She was trying to use his memories against her and this scent, it was meant only to make the memories more. But little did the queen know that Aelin would use to her will.
So Aelin cherished it, that fragrance of her mate. Of her country. And let it lull her back in to a dreamless sleep again.
