I awoke to something heavy sitting on top of my stomach. I groaned as the figure I recognised as Emily bounced up and down. "We're here!" She yelled excitedly. "Get up get up get up!" I shoved her off of me and turned towards the window. Yup, we were at the airport alright. My dad came in to inform us that they were getting off to ensure that our luggage was all going to be taken safely off of the plane. We nodded in response, and began packing the stuff we had with us into our backpacks. I slid my phone into the front pocket, but then instead of putting my camera around my neck, we decided to quickly film a video. I placed my Canon EOS 60D on a shelf next to us, focused the shot, and then clicked record. "Hey guys," I started, "So as you know we just landed and are currently still on the private jet!" we danced about like idiots with our hands in the air. "I have to say this is one of the coolest things ever," Emily revealed. I nodded in agreement, "I know - it means that I can take pictures of it for tumblr and no one can look at me weirdly." I confessed. "I totally agree with that Ally," she said, holding up her own camera as a demonstration. "We just wanted to let you know we might not be on any social networking sites for the next few days - not because of anything bad don't worry, but only because we will be extremely jetlagged. Due to the time difference, our bodies think it is midnight right now, even though in California it is 4pm. I don't know how we're so energetic to be honest." I added. "Before we get off here though," Emily jumped in, "Can we just have an appreciation day for our beanies." We quickly took our atrocious hair down, put them on in front of the camera, and quickly did a few ridiculous poses before Emily continued. "They are absolutely perfect - just like the boys themselves." She fake coughed into her hand, "Cameron *cough* Dallas." She then looked away as innocently as she possibly could. I just rolled my eyes jokingly and as loudly as possible in her ear I said, "Jack *COUGH* Gilinsky." She elbowed me swiftly in the ribs, "Well now that that's over and done with adios amigos!" She waved to the camera as I screamed "STAY SASSY!" before walking out of the shot. She shook her head at my antics and covered my camera lens with her hand before cutting off the video. She handed it to me and we got off the plane, to find our parents still talking to the flight attendants. As we skipped over to them, they finished off their conversation and joined us. "We just have to go through passport control, and then get in the taxi to drive to our new house," My mum said, "All our furniture and things are being loaded into a moving van as we speak." We nodded and, hoisting our backpacks higher, walked towards the entrance of passport control. It was quite embarrassing as my picture was from when I was 12, and they told me that I wasn't allowed to smile, so I look like I just murdered a puppy or something. I walked up to the lady that was going to check my passport, and attempted to pull the same face as I did when I was 12. Apparently it was successful as she quickly handed it back to me and ushered me through the barrier. I laughed at Emily because her barrier wasn't working and she was getting a few odd looks. Evidently the man who checked her passport told her something, so she got down on the floor and crawled underneath it. She looked very unimpressed and by that point I was almost crying with laughter. Walking past me with a menacing glare she muttered, "Don't say a word." So I clamped my mouth shut and trailed after her and our parents. We then literally just walked straight out of the airport into a taxi that was parked directly outside of the exit. I was so grateful that I didn't have to walk very far as it was all I could do to keep my eyes from closing. I could tell Emily was feeling she same as she was constantly yawning and trudging after the adults. When we got into the large taxi Emily rested her head on my shoulder and I placed my head slightly on top of hers. We didn't listen to music because we were quite tired, so we whispered to each other about how excited we were. We wanted to stay awake and look out the window as we drove past everything but we were honestly just too tired. The last thing I remembered was my parents telling me there was two hours left, and the sound of Em's quiet snoring before I slowly drifted into a heavy sleep.
I woke up in a strange bed as bright sunlight burst through the open blinds. When I had fallen asleep in the car, I'm guessing that my dad had carried me inside, just like he used to do when I younger. Slowly stretching, I turned my head to the side and saw my phone plugged in and charging. It was weird because my parents had obviously had to buy new chargers for everything as the sockets were different shapes over in America. I pulled off the crisp white sheets and picked my phone off of the cabinet to check the time. My eyes widened as my phone lit up. 5am. Are you kidding me!?!?! In my head it felt like I had slept all morning - I had, as in British GMT it was 1pm. I groaned out of frustration and swung myself onto my feet. I shoved my thick hair into a really messy bun and walked to the ensuite that I found. I grabbed some makeup wipes that had magically appeared on the counter and got rid of the small amount of mascara that had graced my cheeks with its presence. I was still in my clothes from yesterday and was absolutely boiling. I walked back into the room I slept in and found a note on the end of my bed along with a pile of clothes.
To my dearest daughter,
You fell asleep in the car so your father carried you into one of our guest room so you could rest as today is a big day! We will be taking you and Emily to your new house! It's in a beautiful part of Beverly Hills, away from the centre of the city, but is close enough so you won't need to drive everywhere. Emily was awake long before you so, since she wants to be an interior designer, we got her to look up all of the furniture that you both want in your rooms! So yes - your best friend has ultimately decided what your room will look like. She wanted me to tell you that she left a few spaces on your wall and gave you some basic pieces of furniture as she says that you two could do some YouTube videos to do with it? I'm not sure what she means but I am sure you'll love it! She also picked your outfit for today, so go and shower, then meet us all downstairs when you are ready.
Love you, Mammi
I smiled to myself and scooped up the clothes. I ran into the bathroom and showered as fast as I could. I washed my hair and left it down to dry naturally. I changed into the outfit Em picked for me which, by the way, was on point. She had picked my favourite high-waisted shorts and a cute top to go with it. She also had left me my favourite Disney phone case to match. I laughed to myself as I chucked on my vans and quickly put on some concealer, eyeliner and mascara. I skipped down three sets of stairs and admired the beautiful house that my parents had bought for themselves. It was so classy and sophisticated but at the same time extremely welcoming and homey - pretty much embodying my parents personalities. It was considerably smaller than the one in England, but of course they wouldn't have me and Em to deal with.
I'm not going to lie it did take me about 4 minutes to actually find the kitchen where my parents, Em's parents, and Emily herself were waiting for me. I barely had time to say good morning when I was, once again, attacked by an over excited blonde. "ALICE!!!!!!! COME ON NO TIME FOR BREAKFAST! WE ARE GOING TO OUR NEW HOUSE WWWWOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" I think she deafened me.
Our parents gave me sympathetic, but amused looks as my wrist was grabbed and I was hauled out the door by the wrist. I let out a surprised yelp as I swear my arm was dislocated. My dad quickly chucked me a breakfast bar which I managed to catch as I practically flew out the door. I don't see why she had to drag me as our parents had to take us anyway. I was pushed into the very back of the 7-seater car as my mother read out the address of where our new house was. I wrote it down in my notes, and watched my dad get into the driver's seat, which was on the wrong side, might I add.
It was only a short drive from our parents' house. Em and I were so content watching the city go by from her side of the window that we didn't even notice when the car came to a stop. "Girls?" Emily's dad called. "You might want to look out of Alice's window now."
We looked at each other with anticipation, before slowly turning our heads in the other direction. My jaw dropped as I stared in amazement at what was now going to be my new home. Of course that all came to a halt when Em screamed right in my ear and clambered out the boot door, consequently stamping on my left hand in the process. Typical Em.
