After dinner Colter holds his hand out for me and I take it. He leads the way out of the restaurant.

A group of people are waiting outside the restaurant when we leave. Some have cameras in their hands and they take pictures of us.

Colter wraps his arms around me and smiles. "Hey, everyone. I want you all to meet my beautiful girl, Lexi."

A guy asks Colter a few questions and he answers them the best he can. "Where are you going after here?" The same guy asks.

"I'm taking my girl to the hottest club in Los Angeles where I'm hoping to get a midnight kiss from here."

This used to be our favorite thing to do when we were together. We always anticipated bringing in the New Year with a midnight kiss.

Colter tells them that we have to leave and then places his hand on the small of my back and we walk through the crowd.

Looking at Colter I ask. "What club are we going to?"

A smile spreads across his face. "While you were away a friend opened a bar called Gemini. It's one of the hottest places in Los Angeles. The club is usually full by ten and if you leave the club you can't come back in unless you're a VIP or a guest of a VIP, but there's not many guests that get into the club. With you being on my arm. There's no way people are going to miss you." He opens the car door for me and I step inside.

Half an hour later, Colter pulls the car in front of Gemini

Half an hour later, Colter pulls the car in front of Gemini. He looks at me. "We're not going home tonight, Lexi. Every time I come to this bar I have a room set up for the night as I like to have a few beers."

After he said that the passenger and driver's side doors open revealing two male security guards. "Good evening, Mr. Kingsman. You're suite has been made up as per your request."

I step out of the car and look at Colter. "You planned this didn't you? Take me out on a date and then take me to club to get drunk where we will fall into bed."

Colter shakes his head. "I didn't plan it like that. I got the suite so I don't have to drive home drunk. I don't want to put your life in danger, Lexi. I would never hurt you again like I did when our daughter died."

"Colter," a blonde bounces on her feet waving at him. "Do you remember me from last month? You got me into this club."

He ignores her and leads me to the front door.

"Do you know her?" I ask Colter.

He sighs and then turns towards me. "She is a girl I got into the club one time and she thinks that I can get her in all the time. I won't ever need to let a desperate woman into the club. The only woman that will be going to the club with me is you. Now, can we get inside and enjoy the night?"

I salute him. "Yes, Sir."

"Smart ass." He lifts me up and carries me into the club.

As soon as we walk through the door the loud music assaults my ears. Colter moves pretty quick through the crowd and up to the VIP section where a table is reserved with his name on it.

On a table behind him is the owner of the club who's surrounded by a group of girls wearing bikinis that have cash inside them. He looks at the girls and says. "Get my guests a drink." He moves from his table and leans against ours. Holding his hand out, he says. "I'm Gareth, what's your name beautiful."

Placing my hand in his I say. "Lexi Martin."

"Ah," He drops my hand quickly. "The ex-wife he was pining after." He looks me up and down before saying. "He was angry when you took off."

"It's what he wanted."

Gareth shakes his head. "He wanted you to fight for him, Lexi. But, the truth is you didn't want to fight for him. After seeing his collar with lipstick on it, you didn't ask questions. Why?"

I yell. "BECAUSE HE TOLD ME THAT HE DOESN'T LOVE ME ANYMORE." Lowering my voice I say. "How was I supposed to act after hearing the person I love the most tell me that he doesn't love me." I shove past Gareth and Colter.

Tears fall as I make my way to the bathroom.

Why am I the last person to know anything? I wish that Colter would talk to me sometimes instead of having his friends fight his battles for him.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket I search for my brother's name and call him.

Benson: Hello, this is Benson.

Me: I need you to pick me up.

Benson: Where are you?

Me: I'm at Gemini.

Benson: Damn, that place will be packed tonight. I'll have to figure out a way to get there.

Me: Please, hurry.

Benson: I'll try. See you soon.

I hang up and then look at myself in the mirror. The mascara I wore is running down my face leaving a black line. Grabbing some water I wash my face.

The door opens and in walks a group of woman. A blonde says. "That guy by the door is so hot. Who do you think he's waiting for?"

"Who, cares. I just hope the hottie is still there when we finish in here. If he is I'm going to drag him in here and fuck..." she stops talking as she notices me. "Can I help you?" she asks rudely.

"No, you can't. I was also in here before you gossip Queen's came in disturbing me."

The blonde takes a closer look at me. "Are you okay?" she asks nicely.

"I'm fine." I grab a paper towel and start wiping my face. "I don't want to intrude any longer on the conversation you were having about the hottie that's standing outside those doors." I throw the paper towel in the bin before opening the door.

Standing across the door is Colter and he doesn't look happy. "He had no right to tell you all that."

"Colter, what happened that night? I saw your collar with the lipstick on it and your mouth. Did you cheat on me or was it just making out?"

He sighs. "After our daughter died I didn't know how to live anymore, Lexi. You were the only thing holding me together, but I screwed up in the meeting I was having with a client and she started kissing me. I felt alive having her attention. Before anything major happened I pulled her off me and told her that I couldn't hurt my wife like that."

I slap him across the face. "I've wanted to do that for a while now."

He touches his face. "I don't blame."

"I'm going home, Colter. I hope you have a great New Year's." I kiss his cheek before walking over to the main doors of the club and walking out."
