This man really is something.
During the day Chen Luo had quietly scanned through every last court document that had been made during the five years I had served the law and then he had re-organised them into categories sorted by date. I hadn't even asked him to do it, yet he argued that a proper advisor stays up to date with the court no matter what.
But during the evening and long into the night he trained hard in the court garden as if he was preparing for something greater that was happening in the near future. His sharp moves reminded me of the times during my youth that I spent in the dojo learning underground fighting techniques, something which a lot of my peers were doing at the time.
I stood up from the cushion I'd been sitting on and leaned on one of the fences, looking at him from afar.
He is only about two years younger than me, born during a thunderstorm in May. His face was smooth and clean, but his body revealed a whole different scarred past of hardships and triumph. It was obvious he had seen many battles, survived through barely liveable conditions and came back to become... what, an advisor?
The thought brought a smile to my face. Idiot.
Observe him from the patio as he quietly kicks the air with speed even I couldn't muster up even if I tried, I find myself quite fascinated by this man.
Long, strong legs with the force of a thousand men and shoulders so feminine you wouldn't believe those belonged to a former army man.
But they were by no means unattractive, just slightly different from the expectations you'd have for a worn out general.
The thing that had stood out the most about him was definitely his eyes; they were grey which I hadn't even heard of existing until now. Rumour says he was relative to distant Northern civilisations, but I have no idea if that's a myth made up by the people around town or the truth.
In any case, his presence had made a clear difference in levels of intimidation during the court case today. The witness could barely muster up answers when he stood before him, and even before he had said a word Chen Luo knew that his story was false.
Not bad for his first case indeed, without him I would have had to sit there for thirty minutes extra listening to white lies which would have eventually turned against him anyway. Justice was served, the man was punished and Chen Luo has officially earned my trust as my new advisor.
The clock strikes midnight, and Chen Luo finishes up for the day and retires to his chambers. I stand there for a few more minutes, looking over the yard until I felt like enough time had passed.
Then, I take out the wine bottle stashed away into one of the cabinets and have a "night out".
