Sticks and TNT!

Luce's POV:

"No No No! Leave me alone! Ahhhhhh! No keep away, I have rights! Luce, come save me please!" a voice yells through my headphones and I can't contain my laughter as I tap my computer keys rapidly. "Ok, I'm coming, where are you?" I ask but a loud groan answers. "Too late, he got me" my best friend informs me and I chuckle. "Sorry, I was raiding chests at spawn" I apologise and Bex just hums in response. "He beat me with a stick Luce. A stick! Really? I mean, come on! My pride is dead now" she complains and I can't help but laugh as I see her pissed off expression in the corner of my screen on Skype. It's always like this when we team up on servers. We start off good and then one of us gets cocky and goes off hunting for armour and weapons, and then most likely gets us both killed in the process. This time, it was my bad.

"I'm sorry" I repeat as I begin to circle the arena again, looking for stray players. "It's cool. I've got a revenge pass from the last game. I'm gonna find that sucker and redeem myself" she says and laughs manically as I see her name flash up in the revived players list.

SummerRejects has rejoined the game.

I smile as the death count starts to rise again as we hunt them down together. Suddenly the Deathmatch screen comes up and we're teleported back to spawn, as the counter goes down. Bex gives a big whoop of excitement. "Finally! The guy in cookie monster skin is mine" she warns and I glance around me as the player line up. The guy she's targeting is called Mayhen777 and is holding an enchanted stick and has a single iron chest plate on. Ooooo, boy you won't know what's hit you. I chuckle in my head, "Wait you got beat by Cookie Monster?" I ask in amusement and the siren goes off, cutting off her answer. The arena's empty in less than a minute, just me, Bex and some guy in a Pikachu skin left squaring each other opposite the spawn point. "Come on I wanna get this guy and then check out the parkour maps" Bex whines through my headset and I notice how much calmer she is now she has gotten her revenge on poor Mayhen777. "I'll get him and herd him to you ok?", "Gotcha" Bex agrees immediately. I equip my sword ready and begin to creep forward, careful to keep out of range of his poised bow. Then, everything happens so fast, we don't notice what's happening till it's too late. His bow is suddenly gone and there's something else in his hand, big and red, and he places it on the ground, and I see its TNT. It's only when I see him equip the flint and steel that I realise what he's gonna do. I start typing frantically in the chat, 'Aw nah dude, come on, r u really gonna-', BOOM! And the instant Game Over screen comes up. And in seconds we're back in the lobby. "Did he just-" Bex starts in disbelief and I slump back in my chair. "Yep, he blew us up and threw the game, the asshole" I sigh and Bex shakes her head at me through Skype. "I hate guys like that. If your gonna lose, lose properly, don't throw the game away" she says as she takes a drink from her huge can of coke and I smile. "Yeah well maybe this guy couldn't handle our awesomeness" I suggest and she nearly chokes as she laughs.

"Guess who made the leader board again!" she suddenly sings and I realise she must have the MineCraft tables up on another tab as she's playing and talking. I tap a couple of keys and the table springs up on my own laptop screen.

I give a low whistle. "3rd! On the top table, we're 3rd? God we have no life!" I grin and Bex laughs. "Obviously, how d'you think we got this good?" she says and takes another swig of coke. "Wait, hang on. There's a tweet here about a competition" she says suddenly and I roll my eyes. "How many tabs you got open on there?" I ask and she wave's me off, her eyes off camera. "It's basically for a free trip to Minecon in California next week, the trips paid for and everything and it's all inclusive. Sounds epic actually" and I shrug, "Probably just another bogus one by some shady company who will scam people, who tweeted it?" I ask out of mild interest and I see her grin, "Adam, Ty and Tyler. Or as we know them, SkydoesMinecraft, Deadlox and MunchingBrotato" she says slowly and I nearly fall off my chair. "It's legit?" I ask in disbelief. "Seems like it. The competition is for the tag team who can stay atop the leader board on the HungerGames Mod of SkyGames by tomoz night. The Minecon organisers have retweeted it too, so I'm thinking, yeah it's totally legit" then she turns her glinting blue eyes on me. "Should we do it?" she asks and I shrug uneasily. "Bex, I don't-", "We're in" she smiles as she taps a couple of keys and I see an email of confirmation flash in my inbox. "Bitch, what the hell? We're ok as a team but we are not going to win this" I complain but my best friend just shrugs. "Oh well. Luce, we're totally gonna do this" she laughs and I glare at her. "Get some sleep, we've got some serious gaming to do tomorrow" I say finally and I hear her whoop loudly before I log off.
