Mary was in a dangerous situation. But she had the protection of her husband, Charles Brandon. Charles was right the country was shifting, great men like Thomas More, stood behind their convictions. Mary wanted to be like her mother, strong and independent, but understood that she was a stepmother and not to forget that.
Firstly, Mary had been kicked out the court and Charles had taken her to Westhorpe. It was a two day journey and he was only one day. If he did not return in a day, well Mary had no idea. The children were excited to see there mysterious and often absent father but Mary could tell that Charles was going to have a hard time explaining that this was a huge tease. Well, during dinner, they finally heard the news. Let's just say that nobody had any sleep that night. Mary convinced Charles that he needed to go in a carriage.
First Day Alone at Westhorpe
Eleanor and Frances arrived in Mary's bedroom early in the morning. Both had been used to coming to the room when their father was around and did not know how Mary would react.
