Jack Frost

We stepped into the audition room, walking in silence to the stage. I would say that I was a tad bit more nervous then I previously was. The three judges, whom I didn't recognize, sat stiffly at the table in front of us. One man, probably in his late fifties, raised a carefully arched eyebrows at me.

"Hello, boys. My name is Albert Baratus, and I am the music teacher at this school. If, and only if, you make it into this school, I will be the one teaching you ALP you need to know about how to make it big and stay big."

"Bert, please, you're scaring the poor kids. My name is Esmeralda Trapp, I'm the head of the dance department here at Tellmore. Next to me is Vicky James, and he's in charge of the acting division." The women next to Mr. Baratus introduced us.

"Yes, yes." Mr. James said. "Anyway, today you will play us a song. I hope you have one prepared... and one that will impress us."

"You may begin."

I coughed a little, and we set up our equipment.

"Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain
I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days
She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones
Seems to me that when I die these words will be written on my stone..." I started.

"And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I been holding on too tight
With nothing in between..."

"The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night
To keep her warm
And time is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life
I give her hope
I spend her love
Until she's broke
Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of).."

"Written on these walls are the colors that I can't change
Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage
I know that in the morning now I see us in the light upon a hill
Although I am broken, my heart is untamed, still.."

"And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The fire beneath my feet is burning bright
The way that I been holding on so tight
With nothing in between.."

"The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night
To keep her warm
And time is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life
I give her hope
I spend her love
Until she's broke
Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)..."

"And I been waiting for this time to come around
But baby running after you is like chasing the clouds..."

"The story of my life
I take her home
I drive all night
To keep her warm
And time is frozen
The story of my life
I give her hope (give her hope)
I spend her love
Until she's broke (until she's broke inside)
Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)..."

"The story of my life
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life..."

I guess we had a pretty good go in my eyes, because my confidence was through the roof. I smirked, waiting for the endless applause. Yet, I got nothing. Did we fail?

Esmeralda smiled. "I'm not impressed, but it wasn't awful. You're not that great on the talent side, but you have the look. Here's what I'll do. You fix yourselves up, come back next week, and re-audition. Same song, just better."

I gaped at her, shocked. I sent Hiccup a look, and he returned it with a panicked smile. "She's giving us a second chance!"

"Fine."
