Chapter 7

Chris’s POV

He looked me dead in the eye and scoffed in disgust.  He then turned and faced Averie.

“Shouldn’t you be in school?” he growled

He reached down and picked her up by her neck, choking her.  She couldn’t get anything out as she gasped for air.

“Answer me bitch” he said bringing a blow to her face.

As soon as I came back into reality I swung the bat hitting him in the middle of his back.  He groaned in pain and doubled over falling over to the ground.  I prepared to swing again but some heavy weight was preventing me to do that.   I turned around and saw Averie gripping the bat tightly.

“Don’t hurt him anymore, he doesn’t deserve it”

I looked at her like she was crazy.  How could she NOT want me to bash his head in? He is a bastard! I dropped the bat and walked out of the room.

“I should get going Chris, we’ve had enough excitement today.  I’ll see you later.”

Before she could walk away I grabbed her arm.  She sighed.

“Chris, let me go.  I promise I will call you tonight.  I love you”

I stood frozen.  She just told me she loved me.  She slipped out of my grip and walked downstairs and out of the front door. 

She just told me she loved me.

Averie’s POV

I can’t believe I just told him I loved him.  I’m so STUPID! Now what we had is ruined.  I unlocked my car and got in.  I pulled out my phone and dialed Sadie’s number.  After that 4th ring she picked up

“Hey Averie.  What’s up?”

“Sadie, can you meet me at Olive Garden?”

“Yessss girl that is the place.  See you in 10?”

“That’s cool” I replied

“Okay bye girl”

“Bye”

I hung up and backed out of the driveway.  I turned up the music in the car and bobbed my head to Trey Songz.  If that man ain’t the sexiest thang! 

7 minutes I pulled up to Olive Garden and saw Sadie out front.  I greeted her and walked in behind her.  We spent the next hour discussing Chris and everything that happened earlier.  Some tears were shed, all by me.  She gave me some great advice and I was really thankful for her.  She made me feel better about everything and just lifted my spirits. 

After our heart to heart, we got to know each other better.  She gave me more details on the school and how all the cliques worked.  Once we finished eating, we walked out together still talking and chatting.  Finally we ran out of things to talk about and we said goodbye.

I decided that I’d sit in the parking lot and call Chris like I had promised.  I called twice before I realized he wasn’t going to answer.  I sighed and made my way to the apartment complex I had been looking at.  Today is the day I get my own place.

Chris’s POV

I saw her name flash across the screen.  I was still trippin’ off the fact that she told me she loved me.  How do I reply to that?  Like those are strong words.  Do I love her too? How do I find that out?  Her name flashed across the screen again and I just stared at it.  It stopped ringing and it didn’t ring again.

Sadie’s POV

I know if I tell everybody about Chris it will gain me MAJOR social points.  I picked up my phone and texted anybody who is anybody and told them about the mystery boy.  Just wait until they see this.
