Ok, Parker. New town, new school. It's fine. Everything is fine.
Parker glanced outside as her Mom waved her goodbye through the tinted glass window of the passenger seat. She drove out of the main parking lot and away into the traffic. Parker faced away from the window and sat against the wall, hand head in her lap. She sighed to herself, alone in the lobby.
Great. What now? It's my first day and I'm already a half an hour late and have no clue who to talk to, or where my classes are at, or who anyone is, or-
"Hi!" Someone interrupted their thoughts. And was standing right in front of them.
Parker gasped and hit their head on the wall, dropping some papers along with their schedule in the process. "Ah! Ow."
The person chuckled a bouncy laugh. "Are you ok?" She said through each laughing spurt as she helped Parker up.
"Yeah, for the most part." They dusted off their shirt and adjusted their backpack. "So uh, do you know where Mrs. Sh-," Parker stuttered, "Shak-"
"Schachner?" The girl chuckled again, "Yeah."
"Oh, that's how you pronounce it?" Parker questioned.
"Oh yeah. It's German." she said cheerily, "She doesn't like her last name pronounced incorrectly so, uh, be wary of that." She helped pick up Parker's papers and schedule. "Oh man, you've got most of your classes with me! Stellar!"
Parker replied anxiously, "Oh we do?"
"Yeah!" she announced noticing Parker's anxiety, "Are you alright? I'm not that terrible of a classmate."
"No, it's not that I just-" Parker struggled to find the right words, "I'm so overwhelmed and I don't even really know you!" They stopped to breathe, "I didn't mean it like that but I'm just-" they stopped again, "Look, I just have anxiety and this whole- thing isn't really helping."
She was left agasp, "Uh I'm sorry I didn't know-"
"Yeah you didn't," Parker said with a touch of frost, then sat down again sighing.
"Hey, it's ok." She sat beside them, "My name's Breih and my job was to show you around school today. I guess I didn't do a very good job at that though."
Parker looked at her with teary eyes, "No no- you just- I just-" they sighed again, "I didn't mean to freak out like that. I just moved here and I got overly worried about things. Like usual." they folded themselves back into their lap.
"I'm really sorry if I'd known I would've calmed down a bit. That sounds really rough."
"I know but I'm just being overdramatic. I didn't even think about how you felt."
"What?!" Breih stood up, "Is that what you're sorry about? You had every right to be freaking out. I'd be pretty nervous myself if I were just thrown into a situation like that and a crazy person laughed at me for getting nervous!"
Parker laughed into their knees, "I see so people think you're crazy too?"
Breih stopped and sighed, "Yeah. I suppose so."

General FictionThis is a story about Parker and Breih. They really are wonderful characters, not by my own creation. I added personalities, but I have my friend to thank for that. I've really been putting off writing this for a long time so I decided to post a bit...
