Cobalt squeezed the Nudge trigger, a few spurts of ion shoving the spherical trimmer Peggy-Sue a fractional degree closer to the point of convergence.

"Flocking convergence," the trimmer's smart lobe was speaking, a caramel voice coated in promise. Based on Cobalt's own, of course, but tinged with independent personality developed over the course of the trimmer's five century lifespan. "Projecting. Projecting. One in Twenty probability of convergence."

"Don't like those odds," Cobalt gazed into the kaleido-finder, a swirling matrix of thrumming flecks; a billion pixels of colour massing in chaotic fractal waves. "Wait. Peggy-Sue, focal on my coordinates. Four three, eight two six, nine zero zero zero six two two..."

"Yep. I see where you're looking. Doing a focal. Oooh. Good call Cobalt. One in three probability of convergence."

Cobalt squeezed the trigger again, her geno-augmented arm sending subtle pulse rythms to a quantum mesh strapped around her slender upper arm. The sensation was sexual in nature and Cobalt squirmed happily in her gee-seat. "It's a good one." She could see the flecks and pixels swarming now, just as predicted. Converging on the collective quantum current. "Probability falling to one in two. One in one point three."

Now. Cobalt slammed a foot down on the injection relay and felt the sudden paroxysm as every atom in the trimmer aligned itself with the flock.

"We're in," Peggy-Sue dimmed the lights and introduced a little mood music. Cobalt closed the dark petals of her eyelids and writhed in her gee-seat. Pulses of electric joy flowed in ripples from the threshold of her geno-arm. Perfect union. An orgasmic liquid heat of transcendence rising from the injection relay, swimming through the walls of the trimmer, joining Cobalt with Peggy-Sue, with the molecular structure of her tiny spherical world. Rainbow hues filled the air as numerous empathy nodes emerged from the walls, spinning and humming in time with the music.

"Oh, it's a good one," Cobalt purred. "This flock knows how to rock my world."

"We're flowing," Peggy-Sue agreed, "moving in parsecs. Forward I think. Give me a minute to confirm."

Cobalt didn't answer. She just grinned and curled her sinewy form against the gentle push of the gee seat. The shiny buds of her lips parted, tongue exploring the smoothness of their plastic surface. She purred, then gasped. "Ooooh. That was good. I think I'm in love Peggy-Sue. This swarm is gold."

"Got a confirm," Peggy-Sue was business-like now. "Moving forward in time. Destination seems to be a conscious convergence point... yep... destination is conscious. You'll have company. Won't that be nice."

"What sort of company," one eye peeled open, the long black lashes parting like the reluctant fingers of lovers.

"Can't be certain. Intelligent certainly. It's an odd destination though. We shall see I suppose. How are you feeling."

Cobalt screwed up her nose and wriggled gleefully, "just peachy."

"We're approaching extraction. Better prep yourself Cobalt. We're going to drop out at a moving pace. It's going to be..."

But Peggy-Sue was too late. The trimmer dropped out of empathy and regained its own indepence, becoming, once more, a singular entity within the universe. Severence did not come without a final fairwell for Cobalt from the quantum flock as it swarmed on its own way through time and space. An orgasm, greater than any she'd ever experienced tore through her like fire, lighting her skull with a bursting incendiary of ecstatic fire, damping reality down to near-negligent proportions so that her climax became her entire existence, her whole reason for being. The crowning crescendo of this empirical experience she called life.
