Love Story: Thalia and Luke

It was something that happened frequently. The night started out normal with Thalia and Luke getting their sleep like they usually tried. Around midnight their bedroom door would creak open and their daughter Mia would walk in.

"Mommy, daddy, I couldn't sleep." she whispered as she crawled into the bed between them.

Luke scooted over and made room for their daughter, "Why can't you sleep sweetheart?"

"I had a scary dream." Mia replied.

At that time Thalia turns over and ran her fingers through her daughter's raven hair, "Sweetheart, did you have another dream?"

Their daughter nodded and Thalia tucked her in making sure the blanket was tight but not too tight and kissed her daughter's head before Luke did the same. Mia eventually went back to sleep and Thalia and Luke went back to sleep for another twenty minutes. The door creaked open again and their other daughter Claire walked in.

"Mommy, daddy I can't sleep." Claire whispered.

Thalia scooted over and turned to face her other daughter who had just crawled into her parents' bed, "Why can't you sleep sweetie?"

"I had a scary dream again." Claire whispered. At this time Luke had now turned around ran his fingers through his daughter's hair.

"You had another dream?" Luke asked before kissing Claire's forehead and Thalia did the same after making sure that she was tucked in tightly but not too tightly. They went back to sleep for another forty five minutes and then their door creaked open and their son walked in.

"Mommy, daddy I can't sleep again."

Thalia and Luke made room for their son who crawled up into the bed and tucked himself in. Thalia ran her fingers through her son's slightly curly blonde hair, "What's wrong sweetie?"

"I kept hearing noises outside my window." Declan whispered.

Luke looked at Thalia and then got out of the bed, "I'll be right back."

Thalia nodded and stayed with the kids while Luke went to go investigate the noises his son repeatedly hears outside his window only to find the usual golden eagle sitting in the tree watching him with it's bright blue eyes. Luke closed the window and headed back to bed where all three of his children were sleeping. His wife was sleeping as well and Luke kissed her head and laid back down thinking about how if this kept on happening, they were going to have to get two beds as the kids got older.
