Ancient One

"Here she is" I thought. "The latest in a long line of corpses I'll be forced to make." I breathe a sigh as I hear the same speech from her. The same one put into the heads of a million other children and teens by those infernal gods over the millennia. "Ancient one! I have been sent by the gods of old to vanquish you once and for all! You will pay for your crimes against the order of the universe!" I try to reason with her as I have for centuries. "And what praytell, are those Crimes?" I see her pause. "Huh?" "What are my crimes against the universe? Why have the gods sentenced me to death at the hands of a child such as you oh powerful 'chosen one'? Why? Why are you really here? Do you really think you're the only 'chosen one' I've fought? You're one of thousands. Millions! What makes you so special? Huh?" The rage bubbled up inside me. Why? Why did the gods pick these children? But I knew as soon as she opened her mouth. "The gods told me you would try to deceive me! But I know your tricks!" These children will believe anything. I lose faith. "So be it." She draws a blade and begins charging as she cries a battle cry. "For order!" What was order? What the hell does that even mean? It makes absolutely no sense. She makes several swings at me. My speed has slowed over the years but it's still world's faster than her. She swings wildly. Hoping for some point of contact. After a full 5 minutes of flailing, she's drenched in sweat. I sigh as she makes one last charge. Suddenly I feel a sharp pain shoot up my arm. I'm enraged. Suddenly I feel a wave of energy take over me as my instinct takes over. In one fail swoop I slash across her body. As she crumples to the ground the regret over takes me. But there's nothing else I could do. Hopefully the next one will be more willing to listen.
