"I can't sleep," I whined, slumping off my bed. I plopped to ground on my butt, silently groaning in pain.
"Tell me the story again!" I said excitedly, clapping my hands in enthusiasm.
I knew if I talked loudly, Sarah would come in and find out that I've been talking to strangers. And I didn't want that to happen. I liked H. A swirl of black came into vision in the already dark room. H had appeared!
He carried me back into bed, tucking me in. He sat on the chair next to my bed, saying, "You little pest, this is the last time."
I giggled, turning to face him. I never could see him clearly, but that was okay.
H said, "Once upon a time, there were two brothers who fell in love with one fair maiden. They didn't dare to tell each other they had fallen for her, as they were afraid to hurt one another. One day, the younger brother gave the maiden a rose, without knowing that his brother was watching. In rage, the elder brother turned the rose into a pitch black, condemning the younger brother to the Underworld."
"Around a year later, the maiden gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, with eyes greener than forests. And when the younger brother saw her from the Underworld, he fell in love, but not the kind of love he had for the maiden. It was comparably different. The younger brother did everything protect the baby girl. Sometimes, he would even sneak back to Earth just to see her in person and have conversations with her. He hoped -"
H stopped abruptly, seeing that I was dozing off. He smiled, kissing me on the forehead. "Have a good sleep, my love." H whispered, before disappearing.
I grinned, before I fell into slumber.

I waited patiently on the park bench for Sarah to come back with the ice cream. I hummed a soft tune, playing with my fingers. I looked up from the bench, and stared at the playground. It was empty, yet full. I could see children playing - young girls in frocks and young boys in a Victorian attire. One moment they were there, one moment they weren't.
It always bothered me, how I could these weird apparitions.
"What are you staring at?" Sarah asked, sitting down on the bench, holding two cones of ice cream.
I smiled widely at her, replying, "Just bored." Sarah handed me the vanilla cone, before devouring her mint cone.
"Sarah, could you tell me a bit more about my mum?"
"Mel..."
"Please, Sarah! All my other friends have mums, and they keep teasing me for not having one. The least I can do is to ask you!"
"Mel, I'm sorry. I don't know anything about her."
I pouted, returning back to my ice cream. Within a few seconds, rain came pouring down on us. Sarah groaned loudly, before taking off her coat. She threw away her ice cream in the nearby bin and held the coat over us. "Run!" Sarah yelled, taking hold of my hand. We sprinted into the nearby shelter.
"Did you do it?" Sarah scolded, rubbing her temples.
"No!" I denied immediately.
But I wasn't sure. This wasn't the first time it happened.

"H? Where are you?" I asked yet again, hoping for a reply.
"H? I miss you." I tried one more time, eyes watery.
"H? Can you please tell me the story again?" I cried, clutching on to my blanket.
The reply never came, so I finally said, "Okay, H. Goodnight. I love you."
And I fell asleep.

I tugged at my coat. The weather was getting colder and colder as time ticked towards winter. I should've worn thicker clothes.
That's when it clicked it my mind.
No one would notice if I increased the temperature a little, would they?
I immediately thought of something happy.
I was in bed, seven years of age, being tucked in by H.
It soon got comparably warmer than a few minutes ago.
I smiled, satisfied with myself.
I continued my way to the supermarket, enjoying the walk. As I turned around the bend, I caught glimpse of a dark figure. However, it disappeared before I could make out what it was. I ran towards the alley, hoping I would see it again. Sure enough, I did.
"Who are you?" I asked, voice strong.
It disappeared halfway through my sentence.
"Who are you?" I repeated one more time.
It didn't appear.
So I tried my luck, yelling, "H?"
"H?" I cried, innocence seeping into my voice.
"H?" I said in a deathly whisper, like a child.
"What's the freak doing this time?" A familiar voice mocked.
I turned to see Kara Schooling holding up her phone, taking a video.
Kara Schooling was the popular girl, and well, I was the outcast who talked to walls.
"Talking to walls again?" Kara snickered, coming closer.
I sucked in a deep breath, before sprinting away from her.
I didn't notice I was crying until I heard Kara scream.
"What the bloody hell was that?"
I looked back, only to see Kara's expensive phone on the ground, shattered into a million pieces.
I was confused.

"Rosewood, you little bitch! You broke my phone twice. I'm gonna call the coppers on you!" Kara screeched, lunging for me. I dodged easily, making her fall onto the ground.
Chatters filled the hallway, as Kara's extremely short school skirt split open, showing her brown-stained underwear.
I gasped in horror. I didn't mean for that to happen.
Kara screamed, immediately scrambling to hide her bosom. She pointed at me and shouted, "You're a witch! I knew something was off about you!"
I backed away from her.
I was something evil, wasn't I?
