Phoenix’s POV

I’m here now at the playground together with Zayde. If you’re asking the reason why I walked out a while ago, it’s because I didn’t expect that Xander would say something like that. Particularly in front of me that makes me pissed off. I never thought that he, my friend, will do that when he already know that I have a feeling for Zayde.

“Phoenix.” I turned to Zayde. I remember, if Xander already confessed to her what is her answer to him? I need to ask her!

“Zayde.”

“Uh, yes?” she looked at me straight to the eye. I want to be serious here, if her answer to him is a yes, then there’s no more reason for me to fight this feelings for her. I’m not a hero to fight for her if she’s already happy with someone that can give her better experiences rather than mine. But if she said no, then there’s only one thing to do. And I need to gather up all of my courage just to say what I want to say.

“A while ago, Xander asked you right? He said that he will court you, what is your answer?” I said seriously but I guessed I made the wrong choice. She suddenly become silent after I asked her.

It’s a yes.

Tss, I’m already too late.

“I didn’t answer him.” I instantly looked at her.

“What?”

“I didn’t answer him.” She repeats it again. Wait, so does that mean?

“Yeah, I rejected him. I don’t know why, he’s my crush after all but there comes this feeling that always contradict my decisions. That’s why I end up rejecting him.” I saw her smiling while looking at the lake. She’s so beautiful, it’s like I’ve already seen a goddess that came from above. When was the last time that I’ve seen her smile like this?

~Flashback

I’m here at the bay walk, walking with my friends. We just ended our class earlier this afternoon, our teacher becomes lazy eh.

“Guys, somebody needs to treat us today!” Adrian suggested. I looked at him sharply as I can so that he will not push me in to treating him.

“W-well, it seems that Lewis will treat us today!!” he said.

“Wha—“

As I was walking, I noticed a girl sitting on the ledge with her earphones attached to her ears. While I look at her, I noticed her smiling as though she played beautiful music. It’s like it’s the first time I’ve seen those smiles.

~End of Flashback

That’s it! I still have the chance!! Okay, take a deep breath Phoenix, you can do this! I just need to gather up all of my courage!
